  • XC and the Pine/Burns Eastern Regional Meet

    A Rousseau|Oct 22, 2020

(Told by Coaches Ashley Rousseau, Cole Manlove, and Ashley Thurin) We had a cold day for the 3A Eastern Regional Meet--the high was only 45, which in Wyoming can feel actually like 45 or could feel like 5. We all packed layers and blankets too. Wyoming wind--always the variable--but today it was a freak snow squall while we were out walking the course that soaked us to the bone and we had to wait it out. Although we were chilled and felt like our fingers would fall off we were so thankful for a great race day with the Eastern Schools. This...

  • XC and the Pine/Burns Forget about it 5K!

    A Rousseau|Oct 15, 2020

This week has been a bit crazy. We were supposed to run in the Leroy Sprague Invitational at Prairie View Golf Course this week as we have for roughly the past 10 years, but 2020 has been all about changes on a dime and we had one this week. We were told on Tuesday that we didn’t have a meet this week and that we needed to figure it out so our kids could run. So we decided Lions Park was the place to host a Pine/Burns Forget About It 5K!! We ran 2 heats--heat one included all JH harriers, 10 ladies, and 3 gentlemen while heat two included o...

  • HS Wheatland XC Update!

    A Rousseau|Oct 8, 2020

Today we were in the first “heat” at Wheatland. Due to Covid-19 protocols, Wheatland hosted two separate meets and even is running Junior High tomorrow too to decrease the number of people at the park. Holy moly what a beautiful race--everyone rocked it today!!! There were two races today and they were merge results and send official results this evening. So these are unofficial times taken by our amazing manager Kassie Madden! JV Girls started the day--many of them are young freshman and they are rounding out their season, but they were on FIR...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs Cross Country compete at State

    A Rousseau|Oct 31, 2019

State Cross Country was held in the west for the first time and man oh man was it cold. The winter storm and the "artic" chill went all the way to our bones. There was no snow on the ground, but of course, it started while our girls were taking the line. There are 6 races at State XC and this year's order was --4A Boys, 3A Boys, 2A Boys, 4A Girls, 3A Girls, and wrapping up with 2A Girls and Awards. It has been tough running at the 3A level these past two years, especially when comparing times...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs Cross Country compete in Douglas

    A Rousseau|Oct 24, 2019

Our kids are coming in off of a rest week, since our Cheyenne Meet was canceled due to weather--not sure if/when that has ever happened during the XC Season before. Today was amazing. I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up the “regular” season. We completed our race day at the Plain’s Ice Cream shop… which if you have never stopped at, you are missing out. We ran two races--Girls and Boys (JV and Varsity races were ran together and scored separately). Our kids showed us what all our hard work was for today. They came to race!!! With the...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs XC compete in 3rd Annual Bulldog Invitational

    A Rousseau|Oct 10, 2019

The PB/B XC Team traveled north to Wheatland for the 3rd Annual Bulldog Invitational! We celebrated Coach Manlove's birthday in style. As he always says, "It's a great day for a Cross Country Meet!" Despite the weather leaving our towns, it cleared up, and the weather was perfect!! This 1.8-mile race was great for Jordan Greiss 4th (12:58)! Our Junior High girls squad will be losing all but one next year and Merina Theobald can hold her own. This week she cut time again, cutting almost a minute...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs XC compete at Saratoga Invite

    A Rousseau|Oct 3, 2019

The Pine Bluffs/ Burns team headed over the summit to race in Saratoga today. The weather was perfect for running, 65 and overcast. It only started raining when we got to the Hobo Hot Springs. This is the first time that we have seen most teams in our conference that we will compete at the State Meet in 4 weeks. This was a great state practice since we were at 6800 ft. Our Junior High girls are still pushing themselves. This week they ran an almost 2-mile race. This was only .4 off of the race from last week but we made great growth. The...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs XC Girls travel to Fort Collins to compete

    A Rousseau|Sep 26, 2019

Happy Homecoming for XC too--this week was crazy with the changes to the XC schedule in the 11th hour. The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado to compete--this meet was much much smaller than in years past. There were 6 races beginning at 3 pm, so it made for a long day. We were missing a few harriers this week due to injuries, homecoming festivities, and grades, but it was a great day for an XC meet. Junior High ran a 2.2-mile race today. We split our kids into Varsity and JV today, but the races should have been combi...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs XC Girls take first at the Kimball meet

    A Rousseau|Sep 19, 2019

The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team traveled our shortest distance of the year to Kimball, Nebraska for our annual meet at the Four Winds Golf Course. Most of the harriers have run this course so this was an "old race" for them. This was a quick meet with only four races--all JH Girls, JH Boys, HS Girls, and ending with HS boys. We are still knocking down our times each week. We averaged 35 seconds off, with our top girl knocking over a minute off from last week! Quick hitters--8th grader Jordan...

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs Cross Country compete in Gering

    A Rousseau|Sep 12, 2019

The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team had their first full team meet today in Gering, Nebraska--we are only missing a few runners that are facing some season-opening injuries. With 6 races and over 40 runners, we have a full day and lots of things to be happy about, but holy heck was it a scorcher today. The Five Rocks Amphitheater is a challenging course. Hills, trails, grass, switchbacks, a beautiful jaunt around the cemetery, more hills, and finally a grassy downhill to the finish--the grassy finish was like a supercharger for all the runners....

  • Burns/Pine Bluffs Cross Country compete in Casper

    A Rousseau|Sep 5, 2019

The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team began the season in Casper at the Beartrap Meadow Meet. Unfortunately, not all of our harriers competed today--due to lack of practices or for one senior a wonderful college opportunity. Our Junior High team was almost complete since we started this season at the first day of school instead of a week prior. With the addition of our summer running club and our recovery Saturday we are really prepping for the continued 3A competition. Casper is a great first race. This is our fifth year running the Beartrap Meadow...

  • Season ends Cross Country team looks forward to State

    A Rousseau|Oct 19, 2017

As our season is coming to a close we decided to run a little closer to home to wrap up the Junior High Season. Today the Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country team head to the Glenrock Golf Course for a dual with the Glenrock Cross Country teams. Most teams are at there regional races today before the big state meet next week in Sheridan, Wyo. This course was tough. There were two horrendous hills that were challenges. The JH harriers has to run those hills only once, but the high school harriers had the challenge of running the loop for a second... Full story

  • Cross Country fights the wind

    A Rousseau|Oct 12, 2017

The Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country team had their penultimate race prior to the State today in windy and cold Cheyenne at the Prairie View Golf Course. We are so so close to closing out the season. This is a great group of strong kiddos. We have our biggest Junior High boy class and we have a boys team that is in the mix to place at the State Meet coming up in two weeks. Our Junior high team will finish up next week in Glenrock. They ran really well despite the weather. We had one JH girl take home hardware with a 14th finish (Anna Siebert wit... Full story

  • Cross Country brings home 1st Place

    A Rousseau C Manlove D Lee|Oct 5, 2017

The Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country team headed up to Wheatland today for a new kind of meet. The course included a “Gauntlet” of sorts for our kids to conquer as well. Our team was one of 6 teams to compete in the Inaugural Bulldog XC Invite. We did amazing!! Today not only did our kids rock, the JH Boys, JH Girls, and HS Girls took a first place plaque home! Our JH boys took first at the Wheatland Meet. We had three boys place top ten in the 2.5 Kilometer race--Juan Morales (3rd 11:33), Austin Clark (7th 13:49), and Clay James (9th 14:59). Th... Full story
