    Pine Bluffs and Burns jr./sr. high school students are entering a new era of education with the introduction of tablets.     Pine Bluffs residents were invited to a health screening from 7 - 9:30 a.m.on April 16, in the Pine Bluffs Jr./Sr. High School commons area. The Wyoming Health Fair provided the screenings. Deidre Hanson, high school nurse, set up the health fair as a community service through the school. Hanson said there are two health fairs each year.     The Pine Bluffs Hornets competed in the Storm Twilight Track Meet on the evening of April 15, in Chappell, Neb. This meet is more appealing to athletes because it takes place at night. In all, the Pine Bluffs track team placed second with a score of 232, following the Burns Broncs with a score of 339. The Lady Hornets placed fifth with 96 points.     Ten students from Burns Jr./Sr. High School could stand the heat in the kitchen when they competed in "What's your hometown specialty" video and recipe contest. They were within the West Region where 80 students submitted 36 recipes. The 10 students created three individual recipes. These three recipes won the West Region competition and moved onto National Competition.     Plastic eggs and prizes filled the eyes of children during the Pine Bluffs Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt began at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluffs Leaning Rock Golf Course. The hunt was open to toddlers through sixth graders. The Pine Bluffs Lions Club held the event. Easter eggs were hidden in many areas on the golf course.     On April 11, Burns Bronc track teams headed to Chappell, Neb. to compete in the Tri State Track Meet. The boys team tied for first with Bridgeport with 123 points. The girls team received fourth place with 91.75 points. In all, the Burns Broncs placed third with 214.75 points at the meet.   • North Wells project to switch irrigation land to municipal water

    Last summer, farm ground was put up for sale and the Pine Bluffs Town Council saw it as an opritunity. Bill Shain, Mayor of Pine Bluffs, said the North Wells project will use the land to switch the irrigation wells to municipal wells. The minicipal wells will combine with the town’s water system. The wells will be part of the town water supply. Shain said the town has plenty of water, but he would like to use these wells to ensure future supply.     During the regular town meeting on April 6, Nancy Sundin introduced an idea to the council. She explained the south side of the Day Care building has been growing a lot of weeds. Her idea is to pull the weeds and add a garden. Sundin said she has noticed a lot of spring weeds growing on the side of the day care.     The Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is taking the next step in gettng the new Medical Cinic in Pine Buffs up and running. There will be a bid for a general contractor. All who are interested will place bids on the contract for the construction before 1:30 p.m. April 15 at Pappas and Pappas Architects. The bids will then be opened and read publicly. I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and so far I don't mind the 30 minute farm-view drive. My family moved from California to Wyoming 11 years ago.
