After hundreds of hours over the course of two years, many working hands, and the imagination of Carl Jensen of Wheatland, Wyo., four life-size statues are now at home in Pine Bluffs at the Veteran's Memorial and Community Plaza downtown. A class sponsored candidate forum will be held for those running to fill the five open seats for the Laramie County School District #2 (LCSD #2) school board. Members of the Pine Bluffs-Burns Cross Country team will be headed off to the state competition in Sheridan Saturday after running at regionals in Hulett, Wyo. Although not the favorite this year, the girls team will be looking to repeat their last six seasons as 1A/2A state champions. The Burns Lady Broncs fought two hard games last weekend, coming up short both times in the win column. Burns hosted the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets Friday, battled to the win, and lost in five sets. During the first set, the Lady Broncs played with heart losing by seven points 18-25. Burns rallied back taking the second set 25-23. The third set saw the Lady Broncs losing, 13-25. The Pawnee Coyotes football team traveled to Weldona, Colo., to take on conference rivals Weldon Valley Warriors Friday. The Coyotes racked up 28 points in the first quarter and held the Warriors to only six points. During the second quarter, Pawnee tallied another 30 points while Weldon Valley added another touchdown to their score, making the score at halftime 58-12. An eight-foot long game field dominates the small room in the Carpenter Fire Hall. At closer inspection, one can see LEGO pieces constructed in the shapes of a reindeer, bee and beehive, gorilla, shark, food with refrigerator, service dog and man, as well as a milking automation machine. The Laramie County School District No. 2 (LCSD #2) enrollment numbers saw an increase of students from the first of the 2016-2017 school year than that of the 2015-2016 school year. The increase saw a total of 43 students who joined the district as of September 2016, making the overall district's enrollment at 1,008.
