    The Steel Pan Band from Trinidad and Tobago recently entertained residents of Pine Bluffs at the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church, where Pastor Dan DeBruyn hosted them for a third time. The band played a few hymns, a Disney song and a pirate themed medley for the children. Between each song the musicians looked to each other to prepare for the next song.     They sing for family, friends and fun. They're the Squash Blossoms, an all-girl Wyoming musical group comprised of Kaci Malmburg, McKenzi Digby, Kim Kuhn and Georgeann Wearin. The band has been together for about a year, practicing weekly. Their first performace was about four months ago, and they appeared this past week as part of the local Trail Days festivities.     In the town of Burns you will find the "Room". A place to donate your unwanted items, pick up items, or volunteer your time - at no cost or commitment to you. The "Room" is the brainchild of Sophia Aerhart, a single mother dedicated to bringing the community together. "This is a community effort. From the logo to the clothes.     Chad Werner of the South Western Wyoming Recovery Access Program, or S.W.W.R.A.P. for short,” spent the morning talking to local businesses. “Our services have expanded, and we just want to get out and let people know about us.” Werner said.   • Council to consider proposals for new daycare operator

    “We have an alternative,” Wendy Rhoade, a daycare worker, declared at the special meeting of the Pine Bluffs Town Council. The meeting convened to consider taking proposals for another entity to operate the daycare. There were well over a dozen in attendance. Rhoade passed out the proposal to council members. “This is a collaborative effort on the part of all the current daycare employees,” Rhoade said.     The Pine Bluffs Town Council met for their regular meeting and moved right to visitor comments. Sharon Fain spoke. “This year Operation Back to School of Laramie County School District 1 wants to share supplies for students with Laramie County School District 2.” She told the Council that this event would take place on Aug. 11 at 3:45p.m. “We will get the supplies to the counselors, and they can determine which students get them.” Fain added.     Mayor Kelly Krakow called the Albin Town council to order and the floor was opened to discuss the Larson road bids. Knife River's Dan Hawk presented the bid amount. The Council felt the amount was too high for the budget. Mayor Krakow asked Hawk, “Could the amount be lowered if we wait to do it later?” Hawk indicated the amount would not substantially change from the initial bid.     At 3:30 am on the morning of July 9, four buses rolled quietly into town carrying 150 young musicians traveling together with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps. In Pine Bluffs they found a place to rest, practice and prepare for their next competition in Laramie. A fifth truck, the food truck, parked and quickly set about work preparing food for their young charges.     Mayor Ralph Bartels opened the Burns town council meeting then inquired about any public comments. Sonia Rey, representing a recycling firm in Cheyenne, presented the town of Burns with an opportunity to recycle glass. “There would be no cost to the Town of Burns,” she continued, “You would need to provided the collection bins, but we would come and collect for free once a month.     After calling the meeting to order the Pine Bluffs Town Council moved to the business of the intended use of property by Chad Brown and Gene Purdy for their company Wyoming Malted.     Brianna Bocox of Burns has been skating since she was eight. In her second year of inline skating she took fourth place in the Nationals in Nebraska. Now, a decade later, she has won a spot on TeamUSA to compete in Taiwan. But its the bits in between that has made it all possible. In May 2015, Brianna graduated from Burns High School, and received the Olympic Training Opportunity Scholarship.
