Sadie's Cafe recently hosted their second painting event on Thursday night. Artists gathered around and watched as Ashley Hottell gave a lesson on how to bring their blank canvases to life. The theme for the night was a snowy, woodsy scene with many different animals wandering through each picture. Using their imagination for a wintery scene gave an array of different paintings. County Commissioners Brian Lovett and Gunnar Malm joined Laramie county fire department #3 (LCFD#3) for the Albin town council meeting on Thursday January 14, 2021. There were plenty of subjects that needed attention, the first item of business was from LCFD #3. They ask that their land purchased be annexed as part of the town. The plan is to build a new fire department building with the funding from the 6th penny tax. The discussion will be revisited at the February meeting. Laramie County Outreach Center will be giving away furniture on January 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. An anonymous donor left in endowment for the outreach program to get new furniture for their building, leaving existing furniture without a home. The furniture ranges from the 1970s all the way to the 2000s but is in great condition. Kay Dersham, the school nurse for the Pine Bluffs and Burns schools, started her series of vaccines on Monday, January 11. The Pine Bluffs school staff will start receiving the first series of shots on February 16th 2021, Burns staff will start the next day on February 17, 2021. On Monday night Pine Bluffs had their first town hall meeting of the year, it was also the first meeting after the approval of changing the meeting date. All Town Council meetings will now be held on the the second Monday of every month. The first item they discussed was billing for engineering fees. The residents of Pine Bluffs woke up Tuesday, December 29 to a frigid snowfall with temperatures dipping into the teens in the early morning hours. This was not the most snow the area has seen, however, it was still enough to cause road closures. The Points West Community Branch President Scott Vasko recently awarded the Pine Bluff Lions Club with a generous donation for their community help fund. This donation will be used to help with their eyeglasses and exam program and their student of the quarter grants. Every year eight grants are handed out to two students per quarter. Although Monday’s city council meeting was much shorter than usual they did have a few things to talk about. Resolution 20/20-11 was brought to the table, this is for the process of combining lots. Any lot less than 35 acres do not qualify for agricultural property therefore combining lot one and two qualifies for agriculture. By combining both lots this would save about $4500 a month. Pine Bluffs recreation recently did the judging for their 15th annual Christmas light decoration contest. Judging happened on December 14th between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.. Rules for the contest were residents must live in the city limits, and homes can only win every other year.
