The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team traveled our shortest distance of the year to Kimball, Nebraska for our annual meet at the Four Winds Golf Course. Most of the harriers have run this course so this was an "old race" for them. This was a quick meet with only three races--all JH, HS girls, and ending with HS boys. We had a couple runners out sick this week, cold and flu season sweeps through most team sports. We are still knocking down our times each week. We have some runners cutting 35 seconds to...
It is with great pleasure I am sending you the first track results of the 2016 season! Once again spring has come quickly and we have been working hard since early March and have been eager to show off our talents. Last week's meet in Kimball, Neb. was cancelled due to weather, but this past Saturday in Bayard, Neb, it was generally a nice day. A bit breezy at times, but nothing we wind weathered Wyomingites couldn't handle. Both teams had a great showing for their first meet. Everyone got a...
What a beautiful day to run. Seventy-three degrees is much more enjoyable than 97 degrees, like last week in Gering. Our athletes times showed that difference too. Almost every athlete had a personal best! It also pays off that we are in week five of the season and the miles are getting easier and easier to manage. The high school boys took advantage of the cool weather. All but one athlete had a personal best time. Jorge Garcia finished "the cycle", earning first place this year. In his high...
The Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country girls team brought back some hardware from Sheridan Saturday night and were shown around town on the Pine Bluffs fire truck. Runners on the winning team include Cianna Schoefiled, back left, Matison Mikesell, Kelsey Faircloth, Celeste Morales, Celeste Jackson, Austin Asay, front left, Rylee Anderson, and Sam Hanson. The girls are coached by Dustin Lee and Cole Manlove....
Well...another successful year of running, a little crying and nursing injuries along the way to bring another season to an end for the Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country team. All season long we were confident in the girls, led by our senior Austin Asay to repeat as state champs and we are so proud to say they did. But, when the race ended most people thought a young talented Wyoming Indian team had just upset the girls! After a few anxious moments we thought so too! Wyoming Indian's Charlene...
The Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country team got on the bus this morning with a few inches of snow on the ground and with high hopes of running a race in good weather. When the team arrived in Glenrock to compete in Absaraka 3A conference meet we were welcomed to 20 to 30 mph gusts and 47 degree weather at race time. The junior high girls race went off on time and Sarah Love was awarded 7th place and given All Conference honors in the 8th grade category. In the boys junior high division, Tristen Zitek placed 7th and Tucker Norman placed 10th. Both...
What a great day of racing! Despite a cool windy afternoon the Pine Bluffs - Burns cross country team ran exceptionally well all around! In the junior high races Sara Love ran solo today and ran a great time for her longest race of the year. She earned a 14th place finish and is looking great going into the last week of the season. The junior high boys had all four boys compete in a race, which hasn’t happened due to injuries in quite a few weeks. They also ran one of the longest races of the season and ran it well. It was fun to see all f...
The Pine Bluff/Burns cross country team traveled to Saratoga and through the snow and rain completed another race. The boys and girls Jr. High race started at 12 p.m. Sarah Love finished 7th with time 14:47 in the 3K. Taylor Crouse finished 12th with a time of 18:01. The girls JV and Varsity teams ran together and Austin Asay finished first for a second consecutive week with another personal best time of 20:30.95. Celeste Jackson was 7th with a time of 22:18.46, Maddie Mikesell was 10th with a time of 22:36.14 followed by Kelsey Faircloth, Sam...
The Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country team took a Friday off and ran Saturday instead at the Jackalope Invite in Douglas. The girls Jr. High race started at 12:00 and boys Jr. High race followed. For the boys Tristen Zitek placed 6th and Tyler Norris placed 8th. Both had great races considering the heat and difficulty of the course. On the girls side of things it was a great day. The new course has earned the nickname of “Godzilla” from our team because it has some monstrous hills. That didn’t deter them from running a great race. Austin Asay...
