    The Hornets sports season ended with another trip to the state championship. The Hornets track and field team had several members qualify for the state championship tournament this year. Members like Mitchell Birkhofer, Shawn Shmidl, Carsten Freeburg and Jesus Solis just to name a few. The team did well and made a good showing.     The Lady Hornets had a great sports season. The volleyball team went to state for the first time in four years. The team had a winning season and went 1-2 at state. The basketball team had a .500 season going 15-16 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Still with so many great performances from all the athletes there was one athlete that stood out.     The Hornets track and field team took to the blacktop and headed north to the Wyoming State 2A Track and Field Championship meet last weekend. Eight members of the team qualified for the state meet and did very well. Although there were no state titles won there were seven top eight finishes and the team placed 10th in the meet with 27 points.     The Lady Hornets came home with two state 2A titles this weekend. The Lady Hornets traveled to Casper, Wyoming to compete in the 2A Wyoming State Track and Field Championships last weekend. They did well capturing two state titles and numerous top 8 finishes. The weather on Friday was more akin to a wind surfing event instead of a track and field event.     The Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) and the Special Olympics have partnered with each other and last weekend their vision came to fruition with the first ever State Unified Sports Championships. The event took place at the state meet and featured some of the special Olympic athletes and some other athletes competing in events in a state meet. The athletes competed in five different events.     The Burns Broncs boys track and field team accumulated 80 points at the state meet to take home the silver medal in the Wyoming State 2A Track and Field meet last weekend. The team found themselves on the winner’s podium in almost every event to accumulate 80 points for a solid third place.     The Lady Broncs took their track and field team to Casper, Wyoming to compete in the Wyoming State 2A Track and Field meet over the weekend. The Lady Broncs took 11th place in the meet gathering 34 points over the weekend. The girls only had one top three finish with a silver medal in the pole vault.     The Broncs track and field team is riding high as they head into Regionals. The team has won four meets over the season and has some great athletes who have been dominating their sports.     The Lady Broncs took to the road and headed north to Sundance to compete in the Wyoming 1A-2A East Regional track meet. The Lady Broncs did well as a team finishing fourth in the meet.
