    The Burns Broncs have just completed their best season of the past five years. The Broncs went 5-4 and are headed for the Regional Playoffs. Instrumental to the Broncs success is Quarterback Mason Medley. Medley has been named the Wyoming Sports Prep Athlete of the Week. The Burns Broncs faced off against the Moorcroft Wolves in the final game of the regular season with a huge morale booster for the Broncs.     In the final game of the regular season the Lady Broncs traveled to Glenrock, Wyoming to face the Lady Herders in a non-conference match up. The Lady Broncs have been on an upward trend gaining valuable experience with each game. Head Coach Anndee McKinney has done a good job instructing the athletes and preparing them for future games.     For the last game of the season the Lady Hornets faced the number one seed in the 1A Southeast Conference, the Lady Cyclones.     The Hornets football team put their undefeated season up against the undefeated Lingle/Fl Laramie Doggers last Friday night. In a game that many have said might very well be a preview to the state championship game the Doggers barely managed to beat the Hornets 30-27. The game was tied late into the fourth quarter, until a last-minute field goal by the Doggers' place kicker.     Shawn Shmidl caught five passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns in the game against the Tigers on October 4th. In the win against the Lusk Tigers, Shmidl and the team let out fair warning that the Hornets are here to stay. Shmidl and Freeburg combined for a total of five completions and 190 yards against the Tigers and helped secure the 51-15 Victory. Three of those receptions Shmidl turned into touchdowns.     The Broncs fall back to a .500 seasonal record with a loss to the Newcastle Dogies last Friday. The Broncs traveled to Newcastle to face the Dogies in a neutral conference game on the gridiron.     Wyoming News Now has named Carsten Freeburg as the Prep Athlete of the Week for the week of October 7th. Freeburg and the Hornets hosted the number three team in the 1A 9-man conference and dominated the game. The Hornets won the game 15-51.     The Pine Bluffs Roping Club closed out its 2024 team roping competition last Friday evening. It was a beautiful evening with temperatures in the high sixties and no clouds, a very light breeze and conditions that were almost perfect. The club had one of the largest pools of ropers this season with over 30 headers and heelers combined looking for that one final win of the season.
