    A strong storm system moved through the area last Monday producing dozens of tornadoes from Colorado to South Dakota. No injuries were reported from a tornado that touched down in Carpenter.     Last Friday night signaled the start of the 2017 Friday Night Roping and Barrel Racing series in Pine Bluffs. This is the second year for the series, which replaced the Double Bar G Rodeo last summer.     The Pine Bluffs Roping Club will open the 2017 Roping and Barrel Racing Series this Friday night at the rodeo grounds in Pine Bluffs. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the action starts at 6 p.m. The eight-week season is scheduled for every Friday night from June 2 through July 21. Contestants can enter up to two times in each roping.     Two Pine Bluffs families were left homeless following a fire that broke out in the early hours of Sunday, April 9.
