Michelle Childers and Jillian Kriz serve the town of Albin daily, literally. Childers is the cook at the community center and has done so for the last twelve years, and Kriz, the town clerk, is by her side to help. The Albin community center cooks a hot meal every day for those who want to stop in to eat. The center doesn't use the help of government subsidies so they are able to be a little more open with their menus, but Childers cooks a hot fresh meal everyday. The price for lunch is a...
Who gets to decide who should live and die? In 1976 the United States Supreme Court decided that twelve men and women would be able to make that decision when it reinstated the death penalty. Since then there have been 1499 executions in the United States, including one in 1992 in the state of Wyoming. Proponents of the death penalty would argue that it is a deterrent to criminals, keeping them from committing heinous crimes as well as encouraging those who face the death penalty to cooperate...
Almost 300 men, women and children gathered in the frosty air last Saturday to march for the "right to life". David Williams started the march with a speech highlighting the aftermath of abortion from the father's perspective, and Lisa Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame was the keynote speaker at the sold out banquet that evening. The silent march began at the Cheyenne Depot and made its way a half a mile to the Wyoming Supreme Court Building. Members of the Park County Teens for Life drove eight...

We're also continuing to work on our half court offense. The guys are also getting better at the pick and roll. The offense is starting to click a little more" Kimzey said. The boys have some...
Although the turnout was not as robust as normal, those that did show up for the library's winter wonderland celebration were treated to giant marshmallow snowmen, cookies and a chance to make a snow measuring stick. Library worker Molly Williams was on hand to help those who came to make sugary sweet treats that were half-eaten by the time parents came to take their kiddos home. Molly would like to remind parents that fun for kids will be held this Thursday and this weeks theme is pet parade....

Concern over truck parking was a topic of the Tuesday evening town council meeting this week as a resident addressed the possibility of introducing an ordinance to better regulate semi truck parking within town limits. There was some discussion of the thought that there was already an ordinance in place to address this, but haphazard parking has brought this subject to light once more. Mayor Curtis and other members of council have agreed to look into the ordinances that may already be in place...

The second saw a back and forth scoring effort, but by the end of the second the Hornets had pulled out a six point lead. In conjunction with the holiday rush, last month the library cancelled its normal book club meeting and held a flower arranging class for those that were interested. Local resident Jane Baker, who obtained a degree in floral arrangement from Denver, Colorado, came to show those of us in attendance that anyone could arrange a tasteful display to brighten up the home. With a bouquet of Roses, some babies breath, a few lilies, and a pretty vase or two Baker was able to make arrangements that would...

Pine Bluffs is seeing the end of the first business to open its doors on Parsons St. Anyone driving up the street today would have seen a hollowed out shell of a building that used to be the Sinclair. In 1957, after the completion of the interstate, Standard Oil approached brothers and partners Allen Jones and Jack Hildebrand and asked them to run their service station. Already in the fuel business, Allen and Hildebrand were running the gas station on Elm Street and decided to pack up and move o...

Master Sergeant Ben Smith, Sergeant Michael Watson, and Tech Sergeant Anthony Perez offered me that opportunity this week as they took me on a tour of the Air Education and Command (AETC) on FE Warren Air Force Base. In a constant state of preparedness that is typical of our military, the Field Detachment Training Facility trains 650 Airmen per population in...

Despite their best efforts the Lady Hornets were unable to bring home the win against Holyoke this last weekend. Seniors Maddie and Hyleigh Fornstrom shot for a total of 22 points for the game, but the girls just couldn’t seem to keep the Lady Dragons from taking the ball. “We need to work on shooting, we had a lot of turnovers, and we just didn’t play either side of the ball well” said Coach Lindsey Forbes. With the long winter break over Coach Forbes and the girls are looking forward to getting back into the gym to work on their skills....
