For those of you that haven't heard yet, the 2020 census will begin in March and it is vital that everyone be counted. There are 435 seats in the House of Representatives. That number never changes, what does change is the apportionment of representatives that can hold those seats. As a states population...
Burns Town Council opened with a discussion of resident parking issues. With the winter weather just around the corner there is some concern with people who park large vehicles and trailers on the city right of ways which makes plowing difficult at best. Council would also like to remind homeowners that it is their responsibility to clean up their areas of the alley. As it stands now it is almost impossible to get a small skid-steer down the allies from overgrowth of trees, debris, and trash scattered throughout. As the maintenance department...

Monday nights town council meeting stressed the importance, once again, of the upcoming census. With so much of government funding based on population, Mayor Curtis feels that it is vital to make sure that everyone in Pine Bluffs is counted. The loss that comes from an inaccurate count could mean the loss of a program or a workshop that is vital to the people of Pine Bluffs. With that in mind Councilwoman Janna Kestner would like to remind residents that the Complete Count Committee (CCC) meeting will be held on November 12, 2019, at 6 p.m. in...

The Burns Broncs move one step closer to state on Friday when they handily beat the Big Piney Punchers 57/6. The boys are playing well together, but they haven't forgotten to stay humble and practice hard! "The boys came out ready to go last Friday. We thought we would have to play well to win, and we did. It seemed like the cold and early adversity slowed Big Piney down, and we we...

After putting forty years in with the Army, what could make an old soldier like Tim Sheppard come out of retirement? The kind of job that allows a veteran to take care of other vets. The new Executive Director of the Wyoming Veteran's Commission has devoted most of his adult life helping soldiers, so it just made sense that he would spend his retirement helping other vets. Retirement is a word that one would use loosely with someone like Sheppard. When asked about how going back to work full...
Hard water and roof leaks were topics of the last Burns Town Council meeting. In a unanimous decision, the council voted to purchase a water softener for the community center in hopes of saving wear and tear on the dishwasher.
