Local resident Refugio Cerenil competed this weekend in the USA Powerlifting Championship in Casper, and while he wasn't able to bring home a medal, he was able to out perform two of his own personal best records. The championship consisted of three categories, bench press, squat and deadlift. Hornets The Pine Bluffs Hornets started regionals with a massive win over Wright with a final score of 78/7. The boys stumbled a bit on Friday with a 52/71 loss to Big Horn, and came back to end the weekend with a 80/39 win over Glenrock and a 69/91 win over Sundance. The Pine Bluffs Senior Center cooks up a hot meal daily for anyone that wants to come in and eat. Roxie Bolejack and Trisha Burry work tirelessly to bring the community meals that fit within the governmental guidelines for nutritional value and their own personal guidelines for taste and presentation. Holly Bauer of the Burns Branch Library hosted another ladies night out last Thursday. Attendees were able to create their own mini scrapbooks out of card stock and velcro. Once again Molly Williams and Mary Cushing hosted another successful Fun For Kids last Thursday. Bath and bedtime was the focus of this mornings fun, and Williams charmed the kids with Kate McMullan's "How Do You Take a Bath" and Britta Teckentrup's "Get Out of My Bath". Tuesday’s meeting of the Pine Bluffs town council opened with a motion to accept a feasibility study for a possible assisted living facility. Resolution 2020-05 was motioned and unanimously passed to apply for a community grant to request funds to conduct the study that would determine if Pine Bluffs would be able to sustain their own assisted living facility. The application for the study will be turned in by March first with the decision to be made in June. If that 25,000 dollar grant is approved the town would need to supply a 25 percent m...
Though there may be no such thing as a free lunch businesses and individuals in our area want to make sure that none of our kids go without. The Pine Bluffs Hornets are riding high after winning their last three games. Tuesday, February 11, saw a win against Kimball with a final score of 85/48. The Hornets then faced the Southeast (Yoder) Cyclones and came away win 77/50 win, and finally the Hornets managed to stomp the Glenrock Herders on Saturday with a 85/21 win. Not to be outdone by their male counterparts, the Lady Hornets came away from the weekend with three more wins under their belts. Tuesday's game against the Kimball Longhorns saw a 58/23 win. Three boys who are soft spoken, and so talented that they were chosen from hundreds to represent Burns in this summer's Shrine Bowl. Monday evening's town council meeting in Burns introduced a new business coming to the area. Dr. Kayla Madler and her husband Trevor are planning on moving to Burns from Cheyenne and Dr. Madler would like to bring her chiropractic practice with her. The Madler's are planning to rent the north building for her chiropractic and acupuncture business. The 42nd annual Simplot games will be held in Idaho this year and one of our own will be there. For the first time Pine Bluffs will send a high jumper to the games. New resolutions, water, and electric rates studies were the topics of conversation in Monday evenings town council meeting. Resolution 2020-02 was introduced to council, an authorization to submit a Mineral Royalty Grant to the Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board to dig a new deep well from the well house at the rodeo grounds. The new well comes at a cost of around 760,000 dollars, of which around 34 percent would be covered by the grant if approved.
