June 29th the Pine Bluffs Town Council held a regular meeting then a committee of the whole meeting which started at 4:30 p.m. First was a public hearing for Ordinance 2022-05-solar and Ordinance 2022-07- zoning change. Unicorns were up in the bluffs of Pine Bluffs. Everyone loves unicorns, it was a magical moment. The Pine Bluffs Recreation put this event on to see if there is any magic in the area. Sizzling, sprinkles, and booms were in the air as well as oohs and ahs in Pine Bluffs. Laramie County Fire District #5 was putting on the fireworks show for the town of Pine Bluffs. They started on June 25th at 6:30 p.m. collecting money throughout the town. Each fire truck was on each street going door to door receiving money. This year was a great year for the collection. The 94th annual Albin Day will be held July 9, 2022 with Bob and Tenetta Anderson presiding over the festivities as Grand Marshals. Bob has lived and worked in Albin most of his life. He operated Albin Repair with his brother, Roger and farmed his dryland acreage northeast of town. This past few weeks I've been traveling the county, mostly the eastern side, and I've noticed signs that soil health is deteriorating. Mind you, I'm not seeing these signs from the road necessarily. A Burns High School student placed fifth at the state High School rodeo competition. Colby Smith from Burns rode at the Wyoming State finals in Buffalo, Wyoming. Smith has been in rodeo since he saw his first rodeo at the age of eleven years old. He started out in little Britches and now in High School. The season of rodeo has started at the Archer Event Center Rodeo Arena. On June 24th at 7 p.m. rodeo folks enjoyed a chuck wagon dinner to to get the evening started off right. The basketballs were going everywhere in the Burns High School gym on June 6th through June 9th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during a basketball camp for the middle school students. They had 18 girls attend the camp. This is the only camp they will be doing this summer. The Pawnee Coyotes Clay Target Team competed in the Colorado high school state tournament at Colorado Clays near Brighton on June 11th finishing their season with high honors. The clay target team consisting of students from sixth grade to 12th grade, entered the tournament first place in their conference. CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Sunday marked the completion of a new 300-yard berm at the Laramie County Shooting Sports Complex in Cheyenne. The lane expands on the existing ones at the complex. Soldiers of the 133rd Engineer Company of the Wyoming Army National Guard, out of Laramie, completed the project as part of Innovative Readiness Training, which aligns with mission-essential task training for units in the Wyoming Guard. The Earl Anderson Memorial Rodeo was celebrating it's 99th year and it all started with a parade held in Grover, Colo. Classic cars and antique tractors lined Main street around the park. At Burns Days on June 11th following the parade, tractors and cars were a major presence around the Main Street Park. The Earl Anderson Memorial Rodeo had it's 99th year. It is called the Home of the Biggest Little Rodeo. Each year people recall their times attending, helping, and/or competing at the rodeo. Cars and people wandered the streets looking for yards full of items in them. Pine Bluffs, Burns and Albin had garages sales this month. This is a yearly event for all towns. Pine Bluffs annual garage sale is held the first Saturday in June which happened to be the 4th. There were 28 garage sales listed for the town. The theme was Burn'n Thru at Burns Day 2022. The day was filled with activities on June 11th in Burns, Wyoming. It started out with a Pancake Breakfast at the Laramie County Fire Department #6 station. The firefighters were flipping pancakes as fast as they could with the long lines supporting the fire department. It was free but donations were appreciated.
