Some of the houses of Cripple Creek are getting building permits at the Burns Town council on April 10th. The council voted each building permit on Cripple Creek separately. All the houses were on Block 1. But the lots of the houses were 1, 5, 6, and 7. Construction was halted due to some legal issues but construction has now resumed with the permits. The Annual Music Festival at Pine Bluffs was able to give students of Laramie County School District #2 the opportunity to show their musical abilities. The event was held at the Pine Bluffs Historical High School and was broken up into three rooms with judges. All the different schools had scheduled times for each room. The eggs were stuffed and the firefighters were ready for the egg huntin' kids. Laramie Country Fire District #6 hosted their second annual Easter Egg hunt in the town of Burns at the playground by the Burns town hall. The firefighters worked on preparing the eggs the night before the hunt. They even stuffed two Easter baskets to raffle off during the festivities. The clouds rolled in and the wind cooled things down for a bit as the Bushnell Easter Egg Hunt began. The fire station is huge with a new look in Albin, Wy. Laramie County Fire District #3 had an open house for their new fire station on April 1st during the afternoon. There were some concern about the cleaning bid for the Town of Burns. The Burns Town Council met on March 27th for their second regular meeting of the month. Mayor Jim Clark had several issues to report on. First was his concern with the cleaning bid from Shawntelle Young. He said, “She underbid the job as she spends so much time here cleaning.” Mayor Clark requested Young do some additional cleaning at an hourly rate. House of Representatives Harriet Hageman came to Pine Bluffs town hall on April 4, 2023. She discussed what she is doing in Congress for Wyoming. Pine Bluffs has a new Police Chief in town. Austin Smith has had the honor to be chosen for the position. Smith has been in law enforcement for 12 years. He started in Dawson County up by Chadron, Nebraska working in the County Sheriff's office. Smith was there for three and a half years. It was great night with so many activities in the community. There was about 200 people that attended the dance at Burns North Complex. The Burns Lions Club had music and food for the evenings event. Three Burns High School students had the honor to be chosen for the Dandies. The Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandies were founded in 1970. Arlene Kensinger was the one that started the drill team. The Dandies were formed to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the sport of rodeo and the western way of life. Kensinger had been interested in rodeo since she was teenager. The Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne held their annual March for meals to commemorate the anniversary of its inception in delivering more than meals to Laramie County residents in 1970. Last week we talked primarily about getting a lawn started and annual fertilizing. The one thing I forgot to mention last week about fertilizing is that you should only fertilize in the spring and only once with a high Nitrogen fertilizer. If you use Nitrogen fertilizer later in the year it could slow down the lawn's move into dormancy because it will think it should still be growing.
