During the last week of April, Burns Elementary students and staff participated in a fundraiser for CureSearch called Sock it to Cancer. They raised $3367.50. The idea for this event started when Teagan, one of the Kindergarten students in Paige Epler's class, was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. On August 22, 2015, Casper Mountain and the Nordic Trails Center will host the first USA Cycling “American Mountain Bike Challenge” (AMBC) to ever be held in Wyoming. The AMBC is a series of nine events held in the United States allowing mountain bike racers to earn points toward gaining a spot in the National Championships held annually. For the second time in less than five days, Interstate 80 is closed due to a major vehicle pileup approximately 18 miles west of Laramie at mile post 292. In a second accident on Interstate 80, this time between Laramie and Rawlins, 59 vehicles were thought to have been involved, but that number has now confirmed at 64 in Monday morning’s crash. With recent warmer temperatures, anglers have increasingly begun the use of watercraft at Glendo State Park, and the Division of State Parks would like anglers to be aware of the current status of Glendo boating facilities.
