    Contracts totaling $12.8 million for six highway projects around the state, including two to be funded with revenue from the fuel tax increase, were awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission during its March meeting in Cheyenne.     The South Platte Natural Resources District board of directors approved a number of changes to its rules and regulations at its March board meeting, including changes to fee schedules. The proposed amendments to the Districtwide Groundwater Management Area Rules and Regulations (DGMARR) were reviewed following an information session outlining the changes, followed by a public hearing.     The birds of Kimball County will be highlighted during a six-week series of Watchable Wildlife Tours sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and the Kimball Area Tourism Department, funded in part by the Nebraska Wildlife Conservation Fund.     With the season approaching when baby chicks and ducklings are typically bought and sold around the state, a Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) representative says even cute chicks can sometimes carry harmful germs. “While many animal species can carry salmonella bacteria, baby poultry, even if they appear healthy and clean, are a common source of the germ,” said Tiffany Lupcho, WDH surveillance epidemiologist.     The Pawnee Coyotes hit the road twice this last week as they faced off against Fleming on Thursday and Peetz on Saturday. Mrs. Lerwick was born May 22, 1920, in Bruning, Ne., a daughter to the late Ward and Sarah (Meyer) Nippert. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; a son, Kenneth; and a grandson, Britt.
