    Residents will have a safe and easy way to dispose of their expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs this Saturday. The Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-back Day is Saturday, Sept. 26. Sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for people to bring excess prescription drugs that otherwise could be abused or contaminate the environment.     The Pawnee Coyote football team hosted the Fleming Wildcats Friday night, and lost 22 to 66. Owen Wahlert led in passing with 212 yards, followed by Luke Duggan with 11, and Drew Ellis with 14.   • Nebraska seeing increase in Tularemia cases in Panhandle

    This year, a disease called tularemia has been widely reported in Nebraska and neighboring states. Eighteen cases have been reported to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services so far in 2015 which represents a 25-year high. Many of the cases are in the Panhandle. Age range of people affected is 3-82 years old. Eleven people were hospitalized. Tularemia is a disease that can affect animals and people.     During the license purchasing process, hunters have the option to provide the Wyoming Game and Fish Department with their email address. This allows Game and Fish to follow up with hunters by providing them harvest surveys in a much more cost effective manner.     The 42nd annual Ed Dulaney Canoe Derby will be held Sept. 11 thru 13 at the Bridgeport State Recreation Area. Founded in 1974 by the late Ed Dulaney, a scoutmaster from Gering, Ne., the derby is now one of the longest running scouting events of its kind in the nation.     Hunters now have an extra month to purchase preference points with the recent change of the preference point deadline from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31. The preference point deadline will be even longer this year – to Nov. 2 since Oct. 31 is on a weekend. When application deadlines fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day.
