    The Pine Bluffs-Burns cross country team got its first taste of postseason action as a 3A school in Douglas last week. Girls runners collectively finished in 3rd place for the team with boys earning 6th. Piper Perez earned All Regional Athlete for her 4th place finish in 20:53. Emma Gonzalez followed with a time of 22:31, which earned her 14th place. She was clossley followed by Erin Griess followed in 16th with a time of 22:58. Shelby Thurin (23:03) and Hallie Christofferson rounded up the scoring girls. Three boys turned in sub-20 times....

    The Pine Bluffs High School Academic Challenge Team opened their year on on high note with one of its squads placing third at their first competition of the year. Pine Bluffs' second team placed eighth at the event held at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs. The placing team consisted of Reagan Pachel, Greg Fornstrom, Scott Fornstrom and Diana Sanchez.   • Town-wide power outage set for October 30 to make repairs

    The lights will go out in Pine Bluffs for several hours the night of Tuesday, October 30. That’s due in part to the town’s electrical infrastructure being in desperate need of repair, town officials say. Specifically, a substation that the town relies on is outdated and sustained severe damage during the 2016 hailstorm.     Franny Haukap will remain on the Pine Bluffs Senior Center Board. She will be joined by newcomer Sandy Bruckner. Bruckner will replace Bert Pace, who decided to step down from the board after his term ends in October. Charley Vaca, Dema Gilbert, and Ronn Ladd also serve on the board.     Pine Bluffs officials on Monday heard a presentation from Laramie County leaders regarding the fifth penny sales tax which will go before voters in November. Wyoming law allows local governments to put forth a sales tax to help supplement operating costs. Sixty-nine percent of Laramie County's day-to-day operations and equipment are funding through the fifth penny tax.     Laramie County voters may begin casting their ballots for the 2018 general election a week from Friday. The Laramie County Clerk’s Office will open the early polling site at the atrium of the Laramie County Courthouse Friday, Sept. 21. Voters will be able to cast their ballots Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. through Nov. 5.
