BURNS — Arguably the nicest weather for track this year set the stage for the Burns High School track and field invitational last Thursday. And the Broncs took advantage of it as team members put up several strong performances to earn third place. They were led by Wyatt Ebben and Tyler Norris, who each won an event. Thanks to a family of raccoons, the Windows on the Past archeology site might not ready and open by Memorial Day Weekend. "We unfortunately found that some raccoons got in there and made a pretty big mess at the archeology site," Pine Bluffs Treasurer Kim Patterson said Monday night. Winter weather contributed to a five-car pileup near Pine Bluffs Saturday night. At about 10 p.m. Saturday night, Firefighters from Laramie County Fire District 5 were dispatched west of Pine Bluffs to a report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, they determined it was a multi-vehicle accident. Video taken from the scene shows several mangled passenger vehicles along with damaged semis. Pine Bluffs Town Council members Monday night awarded a bid to a Cheyenne Wyoming contractor to install a parking lot a driveway and parking lot at the Windows on the Past Interpretive center. STC construction will pour 480 square yards of asphalt at the facility for about $109,000. Pine Bluffs High School lost one of its own Sunday night. Senior Destiny Marin was traveling as a passenger in a vehicle when it ran off of County Road 212 and rolled several times. A 90-foot mural depicting major landmarks and monuments will be added to Veterans Plaza in Pine Bluffs next month. “American The Beautiful” was designed for the north wall of the Pine Bluffs Veterans Memorial and Community Plaza.
