At one time, this Wyoming man’s face was the most photographed image in the world. Darrell Winfield, 85, the original Marlboro Man, died Jan. 12. And now I can publish a column that I originally wrote in 2000. I interviewed him at his ranch and then later called him to go over the facts. He firmly told me, “No, you cannot publish that. You cannot write anything about me. It is all owned by Marlboro,” he said. So this column has sat there in my files for 15 years waiting for this day. Here goes:... Full story

Despite missing senior Jaden Ragsdale on Friday due to illness, the Lady Hornets dominated the Guernsey/Sunrise Lady Vikings in a home match-up, leading 16-3 in the first quarter. "The girls did a great job stepping in," coach Lindsey Forbes said. "Melissa Fornstrom played really well in Jaden's absence." The Lady Hornets gained momentum in the second quarter adding another 26 points to the board while holding their opponents to two. The second half was more of the same for the Lady Hornets...

The Pawnee Coyotes hit the road twice this last week as they faced off against Fleming on Thursday and Peetz on Saturday. The Coyotes fell to Fleming 67-41 with Jaydee Johnston and Luke Duggan each scoring eight points for the Coyotes. “We had a very slow start and turned the ball over way too often in the first half, digging quite a hole for ourselves,” coach Tim Brunelle said. “ We played hard and more competitively in the second half. We have to continue to work on making better decisions with the ball and better movement without it....
Pawnee Lady Coyotes continue to fight, drawing from a deep well of courage if not a deep bench. “This past week could have been a breaking point for our Pawnee Lady Coyotes. Monday we were hit with a pretty big obstacle, for the week we would be playing, if at all, with only five ladies,” Malcom said. “This entire season we have been playing with seven and even that's been a challenge. Our competitors can sub in and out, having deep benches, while we don't get that.” “On Tuesday, I walked into the gym and saw the team warming up, ready to pract...

Good morning! Did all of you Super Bowl fans survive? I was not even aware that the game was this past weekend until the day before the game, which obviously shows you just how much that affects me! However, I did watch quite a bit of it, and was up-out-of-my-chair over some of the plays. Really, the Seahawks should have had it. We have a week filled with sports here at home, and I will add that if you missed last Friday’s games you missed some good ones. There have been either junior high or j...

I noticed some geese flying north over Albin last week. Now, I am not sure if our flying friends are anything like us and sometimes fly around in circles when they are lost. I thought it might be a sign Spring was on its way. The little rodent from the east told a different story. Phil said to expect six more weeks of winter. I wonder if the geese will keep circling or decide to head south for a few more weeks. It is kind of funny, if you think about it. With all the technology and...
