  • Traveling our state roads

    Bill Sniffin|Feb 12, 2015

February can seem to be a confusing month here in Wyoming. It is that short month where the weather cannot decide if it is spring or a continuation of winter. So far, it has been spring-like. But cold snaps arrive quickly and you better be prepared for the worst when you travel a vast state like Wyoming. As a perpetual weather whiner, I always welcome this month as it means we are one step closer to Wyoming’s manic-depressive spring. Will spring be warm and toasty? Or will it be full of r...

    Barb Cross|Feb 12, 2015

News, Notes, and Nonsense Good morning Banner County, surrounding friends and neighbors, some near and some far. I hope that you are all doing well. This past weekend gave us a peek at the spring weather that is sure to come before too long, and that puts a smile on most faces. I have been in the spring cleaning mode so my house is a wreck. Some of the closets look really nice though. In the sports arena at Banner County School this week the junior high basketball teams begin the MAC tournament...

Sometimes, you get stuck in a rut. Someone once told me the only difference between a rut and a coffin is the coffin is softer inside. Fortunately, the awesome Albin maintenance crew, also known as Bob and Arron Anderson, didn’t think we needed to be stuck in anything, rut or coffin. After the snow and then the melting and then freezing temperatures, the dirt streets of home were less than smooth. After a little TLC, I can say by firsthand knowledge, they are much better. The little Smiths w...

  • Looking Back

    Feb 12, 2015

1 Years Ago February 11, 1915 WE NOTICED IN the eastern exchanges that a number of towns there are putting on a series of monthly sals by the business men and farmers which is proving very satisfactory to buyer and seller. We believe Pine Bluffs could do likewise. Many farmers have a surplus of livestock, farm implements and other articles they wish to dispose of; while there are many others that are wanting to buy such things and by getting buyer and seller together both would be benefited. A list is prepared for the monthly sale and...

One of the pleasures of traveling to the various winter conference meetings and summer field days I attend is getting introduced to some real innovative producers and researchers who strive to really make a difference in modern production agriculture.
