Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation executive director Stephen Stone greeted the Pine Bluffs Town Council Tuesday evening at their bi-monthly meeting with plans for a new building to house Tri-County Medical Center. Stone said the foundation recognized the existing facility as “boldly inadequate,” and was over 60 years old. He added when improvements are done, it tends to increase business. CRMC owns the land and the building, but the University of Wyoming residency program runs the dai... Full story

The Pine Bluffs Police Department used SLIB funding to purchase the 2013 Ford Taurus from Spradley Ford in Cheyenne. The decals were placed by A Super Signs in Cheyenne. It has a V-6 Intrepid engine which will get better gas mileage than its predecessor, the V-8 Crown Victoria. The Crown Victoria was totaled in a hail storm. Although the bar lights won’t be attached to the patrol car for a few weeks, the n...

  • Big fire, heavy snow, ice, wind, cheers, jeers during brief trip

    Bill Sniffin, www.billsniffin.com|Feb 28, 2013

A mid-winter trip from Dallas, Texas, to Lander, Wyoming should be routine. Almost boring. Well, not so fast. Nancy and I had been enjoying some warm weather in our old motorhome (called FollowMyNose) at an RV Park in Melissa, Texas. The night before my flight to Denver, we were awakened by a ruckus. In typical wifely fashion, my main squeeze demanded: “Go check it out. I hear something.” After struggling awake and opening the blinds, the sight in front of me was scary and breathtaking. It was...

Hinmatóowyalahtq, popularly known as Chief Joseph was the leader of the Wallamwatkain tribe in northeast Oregon late in the 1870’s, during the most tumultuous period in the Native Americans contemporary history. They were being forcibly removed from their land and put on significantly reduced reserv...

Johnson Family Clock By Michelle Johnson The things we care about the most have stories behind them. A simple clock that adorns a mantel of a home, with all its earned nicks and scratches, is my family’s heirloom. When it was first purchased as a brand new, perfect clock, so many years ago, it had a special meaning behind it. My great grandma’s grandpa bought it for his wife after they had gotten married. They had bought their first home together and she had wanted to have a clock on their fir...

Cynthia Shroyer, Pine Bluffs Post staff|Feb 28, 2013

Four games, two wins. That was what it took to see the Burns Broncs advance to the Wyoming State basketball tournament this weekend. The first loss came at the hands of the Moorcroft Wolves on Thursday’s opening game in the 2A regionals by the slim margin of just one point. That 55-56 loss was turned around on Friday, when the Broncs defeated the Wright Panthers by the same score in the first loser out game. Facing the Tongue River Eagles on their home court Saturday morning, the Broncs raced pa... Full story

  • Sundance ends Lady Broncs season

Cynthia Shroyer, Pine Bluffs Post staff|Feb 28, 2013

After losing their first game 26-43 to Big Horn, the Ladies found themselves in the loser out bracket facing Sundance. A 39-43 loss their sent the Ladies home to contemplate next season. • Losses the coda to Pawnee regular season

Cynthia Shroyer, Pine Bluffs Post staff|Feb 28, 2013

Three losses were the coda to the Pawnee Coyotes regular season, but with district play beginning this week the team has a chance for a post-season run. Pawnee lost Fleming, Tuesday, Feb. 19, by a score of 47-52. “We played a pretty good game against the league leaders tonight,” coach Tim Brunelle said. “We had to come from behind again and were only down two with a minute-and-a-half to go. But we missed a couple of layups and turned it over each time we had a chance to tie the game, and fell...

  • Pine Bluffs Post Athlete of the week: Brye Brunelle

Carrying a team as point guard is a tall order. But Pawnee senior Brye Brunelle has no problems with the task. “I like to get my guys some open shots,” Brye said. Brunelle has been playing basketball since he was in second grade, so seeing open shots on the floor comes natural. Brye also has a love for baseball. “We haven’t had a team for very long, but we get better each year,” Brye smiled. He serves as the point guard of sorts for the baseball team, throwing pitches across home plate at...
