The Nebraska Department of Transportation temporarily closed Interstate 80 between exits 0 and 9 Feb. 27 after several 40 millimeter rounds fell off a F.E. Warren Air Force Base security forces team Humvee. The incident closed I-80 in the early morning, redirecting all traffic from both directions to Highway 30, until about 11 a.m. westbound and 9:40 eastbound. Representative John Eklund spoke about the recent decisions in the Wyoming House of Representatives and was pleased with the congruency of the decisions between the communities, counties and legislature. Leland V. Nelson Leland V. Nelson, 90, of Bushnell, died at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014. Memorial services were held Friday, February 28 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Cremation has taken place. Marquice Rivers, son of Mary Needham, did not have the start to his senior year that he would have liked. "The football team didn't do so well," Marquice says. A small bus filled with expectant athletes traveled from southeastern Laramie County to Casper last Thursday. Inside were 16 of the Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestlers hoping to make a big impact on the state mats. The Pawnee Coyotes basketball team lost the neutral playoff game Feb. 26 against Peetz, 60-40 at the 1A District Tournament in Sterling. The Coyotes season ended with a 2-18 record. The Pawnee Lady Coyotes Ladies traveled to Sterling Feb. 25 to play Caliche in a neutral playoff game at the 1A District Tournament held at Northeastern Junior College. The Lady Coyotes had many close games that didn't fall in the win column for them, but the fans are very proud of the A plus effort they showed all season. Construction of a new track and field in Burns is expected to be completed by the Broncs' 2015 Football season, according to Kenneth Tobin with Tobin & Associates. Pine Bluffs resident Nicole Macy, 24, experienced her most successful year in the National Make it with Wool competition, placing third in her division.
