    Paul 'Smitty' E. Smith, 77, of Pine Bluffs, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Smitty was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Cedar, KS, a son of the late David and Ruby (Stice) Smith. Smitty grew up in Sherman County, KS, on Smoky Hill River. He attended school in Kanarado, KS, and later served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He served nine months in Ansbach, Germany, with the 75th Artillery, and was stationed at Ft.     Pine Bluffs Elementary School will hold its Kindergarten screening Tuesday, April 7, from 8 a.m to 2 p.m.. Children entering Kindergarten must be five years old by Sept. 15, 2015, and have a current immunization record, Social Security card and birth certificate at the time of the screening.     The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene of a one-vehicle auto accident early Sunday morning, which resulted in one fatality, on Highway 212, three miles west of Pine Bluffs. Logan Wright, 21, whose residence is listed as Pine Bluffs, died as a result of the accident. The Wyoming Highway Patrol has taken over the fatality investigation.     With all the marbles riding on the second game of the state championship in Casper last weekend, the Pine Bluffs Hornets found themselves with their backs up against the wall in the semifinals.     The Burns Broncs stepped into the 1A-2A State tournament as the number four seed in Casper this weekend. The Broncs schedule was a tough one as they opened the tournament against number one seed Greybull on Thursday. The state tournament is such that you keep going if you win.     Nearly 100 members of the 153rd Airlift Wing, Wyoming Air National Guard, are now home with their families following a recent deployment to Southwest Asia. The final plane returned home last week. Airmen successfully provided combat airlift support, logistics, maintenance and medical support as part of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom's Sentinel.
