  • Local farmers get involved

    Polly Taylor|Apr 16, 2015

Legislative policy is only as effective as the people who write it, and when people sit back and complain, do nothing to help themselves, and offer no alternatives, then they have only themselves to blame. That is not true of Ken and Angie Macy of Pine Bluffs, long-time farmers in the area, and more than willing to get involved so that more people will benefit from every aspect of agriculture. Recently, the Macy's attended the annual convention of the National Farmer's Union in Wichita, Ks....

  • Mckenzie Ward Signs with Pronghorns Ward twins female athletes of the year

    Polly Taylor|Apr 16, 2015

It's not often that two members of the same family, in the same year, sign for full scholarships with schools that are a mere two hours driving distance from one another. It's even less likely that those family members will be twins, and female. However, this is exactly what has happened at Burns High School this year, first with the signing of Mckayla Ward with Sheridan College, and now her twin Mckenzie has signed with Gillette. Last Friday, Head Coach Will Rider, and Assistant Coach Matt...

The smell of hot dogs grilling. A crack of the bat and a ruckus of cheers from the stands. No, Albin didn’t get a Triple A baseball team. The Albin garage sales are set for this weekend. You can start shopping today, April 16. Signs should be posted around town, but stop by the community center first to see all the wares for sale t...

I want to start off by thanking everyone for their kind prayers and thoughtfulness in helping me and my family as I recover from my surgery. The well wishes and acts of kindness friends and neighbors exhibit during difficult times always impressed me in our rural way of life. These acts of kindness make living in rural Nebraska a very special place to be. I had my right knee replaced, and the surgery and recovery couldn’t have gone any better. I’m still working hard in physical therapy to reg...
