Mayor Judy Johnston won the confidence vote in Burns on Tuesday, with 51 people casting votes for the incumbent, who was running unopposed. The Burns girls track and field squad took first place at the 2A East Regional meet in Gillette last weekend, setting them up for action at the state meet in Casper this weekend. The Lady Broncs earned 151 points for the win. The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets garnered 69 points for their performances, which was good enough for sixth place overall. I think spring is here. I mowed the lawn for the first time last week, and saw the black rooster walking around town, almost exclaiming, “It’s time for yard work.” I hope he doesn’t have the same fate as the black bunny. Getting a jump start off the last community assessment completed in 2006, the town of Pine Bluffs has completed many improvements to the infrastructure as well as new amenities. This work was paid in large part by grants, loans and 6th Penny funds. A community assessment is a tool that is necessary to receive such funding.
