A Pine Bluffs Trail Days tradition is back again this year. “Blazing Guns,” a western comedy, takes place inthe lobby of the Roaring Gulch Hotel, where the hero, Harry Heartstone is found in pursuit of villain, Snipe Vermin. Originally from Norway, the Romsa family first settled in Iowa. However, during the 1900's, when land was free to grab and farm, or ranch, the Romsa family made the trek to Albin, Wyoming and established the Romsa Farm in 1906. Six generations have now worked the farm. Starting with wheat as their crop, the Romsa Farm has extended out to corn, hay, as well as the wheat, but now also raise commercial angus cattle. Members of the Texas Trail Museum and their guests enjoyed a dinner of barbecue beef brisket, beans, salad and a beverage at the annual meeting which was catered by Rick and Estelle Wagner. Clifford Jeffrey "CJ" Wise was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1979, but spent all of his young years in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. The son of John and Diane Wise, CJ followed in his dad's boots and joined the United States Navy. CJ graduated from Pine Bluffs High School May of 1997 and upon graduation entered into the military. Held at the beautiful and historic State Fair Complex, they were one of many teams competing in the Obedience Trials. There were three separate trials during the week long show. Though the registration deadline to enter the Texas Trail Days Youth Rodeo has passed, there’s no reason to not stop by and watch some classic events. This year’s rodeo looks to feature mutton bustin for children ages 5 and under. Mutton Bustin is like bull riding but for younger crowds. Children compete to see who can hang on to a bucking sheep.
