Laramie County firefighters kept plenty busy during the past week, responding to numerous calls including a fire near Burns that destroyed two structures nearly destroyed another. Sunday morning, east of Hillsdale, firefighters from Burns and surrounding areas responded to a report of a grass fire. “It was started by people out shooting at targets,” Laramie County Fire Protection District 6 (Burns) Deputy Chief Riley McNamara said. With the start of a new school year, comes the anticipated start of fall high school sports. Area volleyball teams will be in action this coming weekend, while football fans will have to wait one more week. Jack and Jeannie Hockersmith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a 60's party on August 20, 2016. They were married August 28, 1966 at Grace Lutheran Church in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska, where Jack played football for Hastings College. Both of them graduated from the University of Wyoming.
