Rachel Derner from Burns, Wyoming is the 2021 Miss Rodeo Wyoming. She is the 63rd Miss Rodeo for Wyoming. Derner grew up in a rodeo family. She is a 2015 graduate of Burns High School. Derner never thought about being a rodeo queen until she went to college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She knew that they would give her a saddle and pay for travel to the rodeos. Cheyenne: Absentee and early voting for Laramie County’s Nov. 2 election on the 1% specific purpose sales and use tax (6th penny) begins Sept. 17. Voters will consider 14 ballot propositions, grouped into the categories of public safety, roads, infrastructure, and community enhancements. Voters may vote for or against each proposition and a proposition must receive a majority of votes cast on it to be approved. Grace Steenbergen represented the American Legion Auxiliary at Girls Nation in Washington D.C. on July 24th through 31st. Steenbergen started this endeavor by receiving an application from her school council for Girls State. Kicks 4 Kids is a fund raiser for Laramie County School District 1 and 2. This program got its start in 2018, with help from the law firm of Hirst Applegate LLP wanting to help the schools. It was brought to their attention by Shannon Ward that the kids in Physical Education needed shoes. The kids had to sit out because they did not have the correct kind of shoes. Recently the Wyoming Supreme Court issued a public censure of a Cheyenne attorney who was the lead prosecutor in a case against an Albin farm owner, her son and two contractors who were present when DCI agents stormed a farm northeast of Albin.
