The November General Election takes place Nov. 8, but voters can cast their ballots early beginning Friday, Sept. 23, when the Laramie County Clerk opens the polling site in the atrium of the county building at 309 W. 20th St. in Cheyenne. The John K. Marquardt field at Pine Bluffs Municipal Airport has a new manager. Kevin Marquardt is stepping into his dad's shoes. The Pine Bluffs Town Council had appointed Marquardt as manager at the beginning of the summer. In the late 1960's, Marquardt's father was instrumental in building the airport. There is a new business at the airport. Mark Michaud started Michaud Aviation at the airport. He will be working on planes as a mechanic. Michaud always wanted to learn to fly planes for most of his life. At age fourteen he started working to save up money for his private pilot's license. Jason Hanner came into this world on December 24, 1974 in Sidney, Nebraska to Meryl Hedgecock of North Platte and Donald Hanner of Bushnell. While he was an infant his family moved to Bushnell. The food is in boxes and ready to go at the Burns food pantry open every Wednesday. It all started about two years ago when Needs Inc. based in Cheyenne called the Shepherd's Closet to see if people needed food. The Shephard's Closet is a place in Burns, Wyoming located at the town hall where donations of household goods and clothes can be obtained by people in need. Pine Bluffs Hornets football team continued their journey to the championship game last Friday by defeating the Wright Panthers in a sound manner 40-18. The Hornets played a sound game combining running and passing plays to keep the defense off balance. Last Thursday the Burns/Pine Bluffs cross country track team traveled to Sinclair for the Rawlins Invitational Cross Country track meet. It wasn’t an ideal day for the team but they did well. Coach Rousseau said, “Last year we had a heat wave in Rawlins—and today was WET! We finally had as close to a full team as we could get. It looks like the Burns Broncs varsity football team is finally starting to come together. The team traveled to Newcastle to take on the Dogies in a Friday night game. After losing their first two games the Broncs put together a winning game plan and beat the Dogies by a score of 42-15. It was a real morale booster for the team and a good performance from the team.
