The Laramie County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees welcomed some of the new teachers to the district at their meeting Oct. 14. Each principal took some time and introduced their new teaching staff members with a short history of each teacher for the board. The Select Committee for School Facilities approved certain enhancements Wednesday for the planned track at Burn High School. “We were very pleased with the outcome,” Laramie County School District No. 2 Business Manager Rob Bryant said. “They didn’t approve the additional lanes but the district can discuss some options to fund that.” Bryant explained Burns is considered a 2A school and the standards are different for the levels of schools in Wyoming and the district wanted the standards...

Dorothy Berry, 87, of Cheyenne, died October 20, 2013. Dorothy was born August 30, 1926, and raised on her family’s ranch in the Little Bear Community south of Chugwater. She married D.C. Berry on December 4, 1946. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before his death in 2010. She was a member of Laramie County Cow-Belles, Friendly Folks Extension Club, and Chapter Z PEO. Richard Martinez, 74 of Denver, Colorado, passed away October 11, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born in Greeley, Colorado on February 8, 1939 to Virgil and Nellie Martinez. The Pine Bluffs Hornets hosted Natrona County Saturday afternoon and kept up with the large squad from Casper. Youthful mistakes robbed the Hornets once again of the taste of victory and they lost 8-13. Even with the dismal season, Pine Bluffs isn’t mathematically out of the playoff picture yet. The Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country team got on the bus this morning with a few inches of snow on the ground and with high hopes of running a race in good weather. When the team arrived in Glenrock to compete in Absaraka 3A conference meet we were welcomed to 20 to 30 mph gusts and 47 degree weather at race time. The Burns Town Council met Monday, Oct. 14 and discussed their decisions on the new lease agreements. Over 45 people stopped by the Pine Bluffs high gym Wednesday morning to get their blood drawn by the Wyoming Health Fairs staff.
