For the last few years St. Paul's Fall Turkey Dinner has been canceled due to the COVID pandemic that turned everyone's lives upside down.   • Burns American Government class hosts School Board Candidates

    The stage was set at the Burns High School Commons. On October 18th at 6:30 p.m. the Burns American Government senior class hosted a School Board Candidate Forum. The senior class students wrote out twenty questions. The event began with a meet and greet with the school candidates with refreshments provided.     Issues of cleaning was discussed and dog licenses at the Burns town council meeting on October 24th at 5:30 p.m.. The first issue addressed was the acceptance of a resignation by Mayor Jim Clark. Don and Mary Ackatz submitted a resignation for their cleaning for the town of Burns. Council member Judy Johnstone first stated, "Thank you and I appreciate what they have done.     Geraldine (Gerry) Agnes Lang passed away October 21st, 2022, in Sheridan, Wyoming. Gerry was born on March 10th, 1929, to Ellen Ann (Rauner) and Herbert Louis Hruska in Gilead, Nebraska. She was the oldest of eight children, growing up on the family farm outside of Sidney, Nebraska. Gerry attended St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney through high school, graduating in 1947, and she was a student at Loretto Heights College for 2 years.     Two sets of paperwork are signed with the town of Albin. The Albin Town Council met on October 13th at 7:00 p.m. For old business the lunch program is looking good. Mayor Kelly Krakow gave three updates. The first was the paperwork was signed for the mobile home/RV park.     Move over, Charlie Brown! There's a new great pumpkin in town. And a new state record. Andy Corbin of Cheyenne broke his own state record this year with a mammoth 1,854 pound pumpkin.     Halloween, a fun imaginative time of year is coming through in the cupcakes at the Pine Bluffs High School Food Science class where the students were competing in Cupcake Wars.     The kids were lined up for a free pumpkin and activities at the Pine Bluffs Community Center on October 15th for the annual Fall Festival. Every year Pine Bluffs Recreation gives free pumpkins away to the kids.     Last Friday the Pine Bluffs Hornets varsity football team played their final game of the regular season. The Hornets were already set for the post season but they were on a streak of six straight wins and no losses. The team was undefeated and wanted to stay that way. Thompson was one of the standout stars of the 2021-22 State Champions Hornets Basketball team and a star football player.
