A few weeks ago three science teachers from Burns Junior/Senior High School had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and greet a member of NASA's group of active astronauts in Gering, Ne. He is classified as active because he and several others like him...
In the past year, two odd stories have occurred, concerning women here in Wyoming that made national news. Both women were matriarchs of their families. First, here in Lander, we had the first confirmed death in the state’s history from rabies when Karen Farthing, 77, died Oct. 3 from complications from an encounter with a bat. Second, in Casper, a well-known businesswoman, Kris Richardson, 61, just vanished in thin air. Her family has posted an incredible reward of $250,000 for information a...

Our way of life in agriculture across the breadbasket of America is being threatened by special interest groups who disagree with how we conduct our business. These special interest groups disagree with how we produce the food which feeds the world. Our image as stewards of the land and livestock is being tainted and it’s important we start telling our side of the story. These special interest groups are well organized and well funded. Their sole intention is to dictate policy so the food we pro...
Happy Fall Ya’ll is almost a thing of the past as we quickly move into November. As I am sure you have all noticed the stores are filled with Halloween and Christmas, some with a little of Thanksgiving squished in the middle. I do not like the cold that November will bring, however, I do like the peacefulness of the month. The calm before the storm that December sometimes turns into if we let it. This past week has been Red Ribbon Week, held each year. The National Red Ribbon theme is Respect Y...

Remember to set your c...
