Donald L. Eggli, 84, of Pine Bluffs, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home in Pine Bluffs. He was born May 8, 1933 in Havens, Nebraska, a son to Roland and Martha (Born) Eggli. Don graduated from Fullerton High School in Nebraska, after high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He then attended trade school in Milford, Nebraska. On November 4, the Pine Bluffs Historical High School will be hosting the 95th Anniversary banquet, social time is at 6;00 pm with dinner being served at 6:30 pm. Time to change, the clocks that is. November 5 is the time to change the clocks back again. You have an extra hour to rest on Sunday. The history of the time change was first used in Canada in 1908. Outside of Pine Bluffs, on the west side of I-80 interstate, is irrigated farm land that is planted in potatoes belonging to Donald Brown. A third generation potato farmer, he is also claim to "the last potato farmers" in the area. Which Brown grows approximately 4 different varieties. Cheyenne Veteran Affairs in conjunction with the American Legion Post 6 recently held their annual Cheyenne Homeless Veterans Stand Down. Area American Legions participated in this event as well as numerous other entities. Homeless veterans were able to get clothing, jackets, sleeping bags, their hair cut, and dental exams and much more. Lunch was served for the veterans free of charge. William "Bill" Cushing was 19 years old when the first draft lottery was started. "I was surprised that my number was 23. So I knew if I didn't go to college I would be drafted right away." Games, goodies, food and pictures mixed with little costume adorned children and adults alike were at the Donald Eisenhauer American Legion Post 60 for the First Fall Festival. Members of the Auxiliary Unit 60 hosted the festival for anyone wanting to come. Children were given goody bags with treats, popcorn balls and more as they entered the building. What a fantastic game! For hosting the first home playoff game since 1949 the Hornets did not disappoint. Pine Bluffs boys played hard and left no room for mistakes. The Hornets had scored three touchdowns in the first 8 minutes. The score was 21 to 0. Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets fought hard at the Regional tournament. They played well most times but every once and a while it got the best of them.
