Mark Gordon was easily elected Wyoming's next governor Tuesday night. As of 10 p.m. Thursday, Gordon had received 48,307 votes to Democratic opponent Mary Throne's 15,674. Several Wyoming counties had not reported their results as of press time and the number is subject to change. The 2018 election marks the first in eight years in which the Wyoming Governor's Mansion was completely open. After being elected in 2010, current Governor Matt Mead won reelection in 2014. He will step down after his...
Gunnar Malm will join incumbents Linda Heath and Troy Thompson on the Laramie County Commission next year. Although the race was too close to call between Heath and Malm (Less than one-hundreth of a percentage point separated them Tuesday night.), because they are top-three vote-getters, they will all earn seats. Heath, Malm and Thompson each had 26.85, 26.97 and 28.92 percent of the vote, respectively. Former Democratic State Representative Lee Filer trailed with a mere 16 percent of the vote. Republican State Representative John Eklund easily...
In last week's column, I included an invitation to the residents of Pine Bluffs to come out and help plant bulbs at the columbarium last Saturday. The town responded and the Cub Scouts, American Legion Post 60 as well as several civic-minded citizens joined the Laramie County Master Gardeners to plant over 800 bulbs to accent the walkway at the new columbarium that's being installed at the cemetery. The Master Gardeners started about 8 am separating the bulbs and laying out the planting spaces...
It is the spookiest time of the year, with skeletons, ghosts, and goblins. Where you knock on a door with the hope of handfuls of candy and by the end of the night you're so exhausted from walking house to house, and have a tummy full of candy. Some of Pine Bluffs traditions are a Halloween carnival at the community center. Where kids dress up in their costumes and show off their looks. They can win prizes such as little toys and candy and there are a lot of games to play. Some of which the...

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Fallen Warriors Memorial will be dedicated at 10 a.m. on Nov. 12, at the Wyoming State Museum, in Cheyenne. The memorial honors those Wyoming military members who have given their lives throughout Wyoming’s history while serving our great state and nation. Gov. Matt Mead and Wyoming Veterans Commission Chairman Keith Davidson request the pleasure of your attendance for the ceremony. “This is an important memorial because it honors, in perpetuity, the military men and women of Wyoming and their families who made the...
Wyoming State Veterinarian, Dr. Jim Logan, has released all of the quarantines that were issued in August and September on horses exposed to a Colorado horse known to be infected with Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA or Swamp Fever). All exposed horses that were under quarantine have been tested two times at least 60 days apart with negative results, so the quarantines can be safely released since the animals pose no threat to other Wyoming horses. The quarantined premises were located in Sweetwater, Lincoln, Teton, Park, Natrona, Laramie, and...
The Lady Hornets came one match away from hoisting the 2A Wyoming State Volleyball Championship trophy over the weekend - but they were bested by a familiar foe. Pine Bluffs traveled to the Wyoming state volleyball tournament last week. They started things off b y facing third-seeded Wind River and won that matchup in three games. Pine Bluffs won the first game 25-16 and the remaining two 25-19. "You never know how that first game will go with jitters and not being real experienced at the state...
Pine Bluffs' prep football season on the gridiron came to a disappointing close in Big Horn Friday night. Big Horn defeated the hornets 68-13. "Big Horn is as good of a team as I've coached against," said Pine Bluffs head coach Will Gray. "They are big and fast and are playing very well together as a group." Gray said the Hornets didn't help themselves by failing to execute early on in the game. Being unable to win one-on-one battles further hurt the Hornets' chances. The game quickly got away...
