At Monday night’s regular meeting of the local school board, it was announced to members that a lease has been signed with the Pine Bluffs Heritage Society for use of the Pine Bluffs Historic High School during the 2016-2017 school year. Esther L. Peterson, 92, passed away at Powell Valley Healthcare in Powell, on Oct. 30, 2015. Esther was born Feb. 14, 1923, to Conrad and Mary Lebsack. The family moved to the Torrington area in 1931. Once grown, Esther moved to Cheyenne and worked at the base during World War II. She moved to San Francisco and worked in Union Square. While home visiting, she met the love of her life, Gerald Peterson. They were married on Aug. 15, 1948. The couple lived in Cheyenne until 1967, when they moved... Full story

A new study “proving” that a brisk walk is as good as or better than a regimen of structured exercise for losing weight has caused quite a dustup. The London School of Economics reported that a half-hour of regular, brisk walking beats the gym if your aim is a smaller waistline. He brought a car through consisting of household goods, horses and choice milch cows. Mr. Anderson is now satisfied that Wyoming is just a little better place than any he has seen. The Zonta Club of Cheyenne is sponsoring its second annual art contest. The theme of the contest is Perseverance and Hope: Survivors of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking. At Monday night’s Burns Town Council meeting, Burns Ambulance Service supervisor Brian Eveleth informed council he is looking into switching the service’s billing service in an effort to improve collection rates. “I have a couple options I am looking at,” said Eveleth. “I’m looking at AMR (American Medical Response) and a company out of Denver.” The company located in Denver is EMS Billing Services Inc. The federal government is one of the nation’s biggest sources of income for so-called “outside experts.” An article posted on the Government Executive website claimed that last year “federal agencies spent $334 million on 825 advisory committees.” The story cited an analysis by the Congressional Research Service document, which revealed that “around 70,000 people serve as members” of advisory committees and subcommittees on average each year.
