Burns Town Council opened with a discussion of resident parking issues. With the winter weather just around the corner there is some concern with people who park large vehicles and trailers on the city right of ways which makes plowing difficult at best. Council would also like to remind homeowners that it is their responsibility to clean up their areas of the alley. Howard "Gordon" Malm, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his home in Albin with his beloved wife, Fanny, by his side. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and lifelong friends. Gordon was born to Elmer and Hilda Malm on October 6, 1933. He graduated from Albin High School in 1952 and attended the University of Wyoming. Gordon married Fanny Dwinell from Carpenter on January 16, 1954 and raised four kids on the family ranch. Last week I started to write about herbs, thinking I was writing about culinary herbs. Especially those that can be grown in the house and used fresh. Somehow the story took a turn and ended up on medicinal herbs. This week I’m going to try to rectify that and stay on topic. This past weekend the Pine Bluffs volleyball team went to the 2A state championship. The girls had a pretty outstanding season winning a handful of tournaments including regionals. They ended their regular season as number one in the state for 2A. The girl's first game was against Rocky Mountain, the number 4 seed. The Burns Broncs finished the season with a 56/12 loss to the Mountain View Buffaloes this last week and while their hopes for the state 2A championship are over, the boys played one of the most amazing seasons in many years. While the hopes for the Hornet girls to take state are over, the spirit and enthusiasm with which they played will make lifetime memories. The Lady Hornets placed second last year and brought home the title in '03, '04, and '05 and while they may not have brought home the title this year, they definitely made the town of Pine Bluffs proud. Several of Pine Bluffs little residents met at the Community Center Tuesday night to build their cars for the annual Texas Trail Movie Night drive in movie on Thursday, November 14th. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and all are invited to attend even if you didn't make a car.
