The Pine Bluffs Town council met in a regular session last Wednesday at 6pm. Other than the regular consent agenda items and agenda approval the meeting was pretty quick. Some of the points that were reviewed were: A resolution was passed that appointed Mayor Justin Fornstrom to the Wyoming Municipal Power Agency Board of Directors. There were some repairs in several town buildings that was a concern and public comments at the Burns Town council meeting. The council met on November 12th, and It was a busy night with several items on the agenda. Darius Mandel reported on maintenance. They winterized the park bathrooms and sprinkler systems. (November 19, 2024) – On October 31, 2024, the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council voted and approved to add downy brome, better known as cheatgrass, to the state’s Designated Noxious Weed List. The Burns High school has a nicely stocked pantry located in the entryway for the students to grab whatever they need for home. Firefighters and EMT's continue medical training for issues that may come up in accidents, shootings, or fires or mother nature, depending on where you reside. The Hornets football team almost had the perfect season. Except for a single loss to Lingle/Ft Laramie the Hornets won every football game that they played. Some of the games were pretty lopsided in their favor but every game was a showcase of the their determination and skill. Jessica Hoffman, the hard hitting and blocking specialist on the Lady Hornets volleyball team has been awarded WHSAA All-State Honors. This is the second year in a row for the hard hitter to receive such honors. Last year Hoffman was one of the hard hitters that the Lady Hornets had that helped them to make it to the State Finals and one of the reasons that they finished fourth in the state. After a successful season the Lady Hornets took fourth in the State Tournament. The girls wound up with a 25-9 seasonal record, one of the best in the conference. For the second time in as many weeks two Hornets football players have been named as the WyoSports Prep Athletes of the Week. This week it was Ryan Mohren and Jesus Solis. Gwendlyn Marie Garcia, 64, of Casper, Wyoming, entered into God's presence on November 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Gwen was born on February 6, 1960, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Keith Phillip Schoene and Ruby Jane Atnip.
