Today, we take time to relish, whip, scoop up and cut into all that we are thankful for. I know I am never thankful enough. It’s much easier to focus on what’s wrong than what’s right. The bad stuff is easier to believe sometimes, and more reliable it seems. It’s really simple to be thankful, just look around. Or even look down to the shoes on your feet, or just your feet. Our extended family has a tradition of speaking about what we are thankful for before eating our feast. Every year, when it...
Thanksgiving is upon us and, like so many people, I feel compelled to list the things that I am thankful for. First and foremost, I am thankful for my family. I have a wife that loves me and two boys that are simply amazing. I am thankful I have a good job, a roof over my head and friends to call on in my times of need. This past election has... Full story

et without something with cranberries? I remember my mom having one of Grandma’s Schwinkendorf’s fine dishes filled with cranberry sauce that still had the lines from the tin can it came out of. I’m not sure anyone touched it. But it was there, every year. Also on the table, though, was a fantastic cranberry salad that I have not yet been handed down the recipe, but have tried to emulate every year. Fruits indigenous to the region where the first thanksgiving meal took place included blueb...
I was visiting with neighbors a few weeks ago about the bountiful harvest we were having in our area on our irrigated crops. The sugar beet and edible bean harvests were both above average in yield provided you had the irrigation water necessary to keep the crop in good shape. The early corn harvest yields were also showing an above average corn harvest could be expected. The following week “The Wind” came roaring through our region for a couple of days. The airport weather station reported 77 m...
Submitted by Renny MacKay CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Matt Mead sent a third letter to Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) today. Wyoming will not meet the original November 16, 2012 deadline to let HHS know whether or not we will establish a state-run health insurance exchange because the federal agency has not provided n...
A few residents of Albin have reported some strange incidents. They noticed a man looking into neighbors windows and walking around on people’s property. Be a good neighbor, and watch out for anything that you think is suspicious. It takes a community to raise a child, and it takes that same community to keep its residents safe and secure. A safe town is a happy town. Albin Elementary school had their thanksgiving lunch Thursday. The lunchroom was decorated in fall colors for the occasion. Mrs. Duffy entertained the diners while they waited t...
