In church on Sunday, Pastor reminded us that, although this is a joyous season and we should celebrate, it is also a season of repentance and forgiveness. Who wants to think about past digressions and apologizing when there are gifts to be bought, wrapped and given. Parties to attend and food to eat. Oh, the food. But this is not about the frosted cookies of life. This is about the spinach. The green beans and brussels sprouts of life. Some may like the taste of spinach, but I would be willing... Full story
Cold equals misery in my book. During the winter, I am forced to get up 20 minutes earlier than usual to be greeted by the cold and a car that doesn’t want to start. Once it does start, I continue my morning ritual by brushing and scraping the snow and ice from my windshield. If I am very lucky, the wind isn’t blowing during the whole process. Just writing about it makes me cringe. However, despite being frostbit every morning, I enjoy this time of year for reasons I don’t quite under... Full story

"Many of us have played together since grade school and growing up with friends helps a lot," Taylor grinned explaining the unique dynamic that exists on the Burns teams. When Chuck Lyons' father, Basil "Bill" Lyons, began bringing cheer to the community of Pine Bluffs during the Christmas season, Chuck probably never thought the legacy of joy would be passed on. Bill was a member of the Lions Club in Pine Bluffs, and Chuck isn't sure how his dad got the job of wearing that very special suit each December. But he is sure how he stopped wearing it. "My dad was looking for someone to replace him," Chuck said. "I guess I worked pretty well, I lasted about 20...

Have you ever had one of those days where you just want to go crazy? A little off the wall behavior sounds completely normal to you? Good news, my friend. Today is your day. Frigid, that it how it has been all around here for the past week, maybe longer. The chickens do not want to lay and I cant say that I blame them. One of my grandkids came in the other afternoon and was concerned because their nose had frozen shut. Of course us older, wiser folks know that that is a temporary condition, she was not so sure! My friend in Montana was having -50 degree weather with the wind chill a few days ago, so I guess not too many folks want to hear us whine about waking up... Full story

This week at the Hereford Community Church the second candle in the Advent wreath was lit by Mike, Rosalyn, Andrea and Tommy Reifschneider. Then, Andrea read "Mistakes on Church Bulletins" for the special. The sermon topic was "Love Came Down." Jesus is God's love gift to mankind. Matthew 1:18-25 tells about the birth of Jesus. In order to share God's love, we need to know what love looks like and what love acts like. 1 Corinthians 13 describes love. Love will last. Love never dies. The... Full story
