    It maybe a small blink of a town but people believe in supporting their community. It has a post office, two churches, an animal rescue and a fire department.     The last town council meeting of 2024 for the Town of Burns took place December 16th. New activities are coming to the town of Burns for the New Year. There was one public comment at the meeting. Jeff Bartels announced that he will be reopening Bartel Customs Painting starting January 1, 2025. Aaron Veldheer from the Laramie County Sheriff department announced that they will be adding traffic units in the county on January 5,2025.     White elephant gifts, laughter and a surprised award presentation was the highlight of the annual Christmas meeting of the Pine Bluffs Lions Club at Curries Dining.     A pre-holiday mood was evident at the council meeting of the Town of Pine Bluffs. Smiles and cheer was in the air. Mayor Justin Fornstrom called the meeting to order and lead the council and guests in the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilmember Allie Leitz made a motion to add an item to the agenda. The addition was to add the re-assigning of ARPA funds. It was seconded by Councilmember David Crouse. It was voted on and passed unanimously.     Having food on the table is a blessing plus a great present to a family. With inflation and the cost of food going up and wages not increasing, it is hard for people to keep up. A person wants a roof over a their head but the food is the hardest to maintain. Food is where the budget gets cut. But with help this week from the Pine Bluffs Pantry and Pine Bluffs Future Farmers of America, they made a difference this week.     After a successful tournament last weekend, the Lady Hornets took their 3-1 record to Bridgeport, Nebraska for a non-conference match against the Lady Bulldogs. The Nebraska season started a bit earlier that the Wyoming’s season, so the Bulldogs have a few more games under their belt than the Hornets.     A non-conference match-up between the Hornets and Bridgeport Bulldogs showcased the Hornets’ resilience and determination. The Hornets, coming off the 2-2 record at the Burns Winter Classic, were wanting to get back to playing great ball. The Bulldogs were just the team to start with.
