A Memorial Day service was held at the Pine Bluffs cemetery in remembrance of military loved ones. "The ceremony was to reflect back the memories of these guys who gave their lives for this country," Steven Miller, Commander of the American Legion Post 60, said. The budget for the 2014/15 fiscal year has been drafted and the first reading has been completed. The town council competed its first reading during their workshop on Monday, May 19. The second reading will be held before the town meeting on Monday, June 2. The third and final reading will be on June 16, before the town meeting. These workshops are open to the public. The town of Pine Bluffs will continue a long-standing community tradition come June 3 with the arrival of Community Clean Up Day. On June 3, town trucks and other resources will be utilized to take unwanted construction and demolition items to the town landfill, free of charge to residents, said Recreation Director Sonja Fornstrom. The Hereford Community Church was blessed to share in a baptism on Sunday. For the special Rosalyn Reifschneider read “Freedom” written by Pee Wee and Cecelia Smock. The Laramie County School District 2 Board of Trustees appointed a new board member Tuesday, May 13 night after former member left the position. The Texas Trail Market got beautified for spring by the ladies at the Chrysalis House. Outside of the market are five gardening pots. The ladies mixed the old soil from the pots with new planting soil. They added peat mass to hold moisture, and then added fertilizer. What a nice weekend to celebrate our area graduates. A few storms here and there, but the rain, as always, was welcomed and didn’t cause too much trouble. The flower garden next to the post office would benefit from some loving care. Many people help with the weeds and care, but I am sure they would like an extra hand or two. The village board meeting was held on Wednesday, May 14. The health board recommended that the village replace the boards on the merry-go-round in the park. They also reminded residents that the tumbleweed wagon and burn barrel are available to use - just stop in the village office to borrow them. The Pine Bluffs Knights of Columbus held its 10th Annual Golf Tournament Saturday in hopes of filling the event for the first time ever, but came up one team short of the anticipated 18 teams. Hello to all! Was this past Sunday a Mother’s Day one to remember? We had semi-planned a barbecue. With 6+ inches by 1p.m., we cranked up the grill and continued on. The Pine Bluffs Town Council revisited and approved a bid from American Contracting Monday night to renovate Reher Park. “I think we need to move ahead with this,” said council member Alan Curtis. The Town Council postponed voting on the renovations at Reher Park in previous meetings to look at other options, including installing artificial turf, rather than sod.
