Despite their best efforts the Lady Hornets were unable to bring home the win against Holyoke this last weekend. Seniors Maddie and Hyleigh Fornstrom shot for a total of 22 points for the game, but the girls just couldn’t seem to keep the Lady Dragons from taking the ball. “We need to work on shooting, we had a lot of turnovers, and we just didn’t play either side of the ball well” said Coach Lindsey Forbes. Pine Bowl is hosting the 24th annual team challenge this Saturday and Sunday and with 23 teams signed up to bowl, it's looking to be a pretty good time. Teams are required to have a 725 max average, and each team must have at least one female to qualify. The Pine Bluffs boys basketball team started out the season with an even win and loss count winning their games against the Wyoming Indians and Moorcroft and losing to Wheatland and Saratoga. Pine Bluffs Cub Scout Pack 109 recently held an activity for area youth to learn about Cub Scouts last Sunday. There were numerous activities, and discussions on camping, Pinewood Derby Races, Team Building, New Friendships, Pack Adventures with your family and earning Adventure Belt Loops. Derik Smith was born with pseudarthrosis of the Tibia and at the age of nine, after nine surgeries, made the decision to have his leg amputated so that he could continue to play in the sports that he loves. The Burns Broncs finished the season with a 56/12 loss to the Mountain View Buffaloes this last week and while their hopes for the state 2A championship are over, the boys played one of the most amazing seasons in many years. While the hopes for the Hornet girls to take state are over, the spirit and enthusiasm with which they played will make lifetime memories. Several of Pine Bluffs little residents met at the Community Center Tuesday night to build their cars for the annual Texas Trail Movie Night drive in movie on Thursday, November 14th. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and all are invited to attend even if you didn't make a car. Senior Hyleigh Fornstrom has made the decision to sign with Western Nebraska Community College on a full ride scholarship for volleyball. For the next two years Hyleigh will study Business Management in hopes of someday owning her own beauty shop. Tegun Hitner has racing in his blood. This Points Track Champion is head of the Warrior Class of racers, and Rookie of the Year, and isn't looking to slow down any time soon. Although Tegun is only 15, this is his second year racing. State Cross Country was held in the west for the first time and man oh man was it cold. The winter storm and the "artic" chill went all the way to our bones. There was no snow on the ground, but of course, it started while our girls were taking the line. Jesse Fornstrom, from Pine Bluffs is in his third year of Super Stock racing with Fornstrom Racing. He was bit by the racing bug through his Uncle Clint Fornstrom. Fornstron Racing has taken him to raceways in Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. Our kids are coming in off of a rest week, since our Cheyenne Meet was canceled due to weather--not sure if/when that has ever happened during the XC Season before. Today was amazing. However, when you hear the name Lisa Gilbert , it's certain everyone knows who she is and what an outstanding coach she has been, ranging from Albin to Pine Bluffs for roughly 33 years.
