    With an 80% riding average this year, Brenson Bartlett, at the young age of 11 placed 3rd in the world at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also named the 2015 NFR champion. During his visit to Las Vegas Bartlett scored a total of 74 points in the second round, and another 77 1/2 points in the short round which qualified him for 3rd place.     Last weekend the Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team competed in the Bison Bonanza Tournament. The Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team had a rough tournament. Losing all 5 matches to the much stronger and experienced wrestling teams.     Pine Bowl and the Spare Room is going into their 40th league season. Owners Jim and Kate Zitek have leagues on 5 of the 7 nights of the week. Leagues count go up to 8 teams and there are 8 leagues. The 2017-2018 season started in September and finishes in late April.     The Pawnee Coyote lady's hosted Front Range Baptist Falcons from Ft Collins and lost 49-37. Coach Janelle Robinson stated, "We had a tough game against Front Range Baptist on Tuesday Dec 12. We came back within 12 points of tying the game but the time ran out. Shelby Hoffman had the most points with 19. Jaycie Hahn had 7 defensive rebounds as well as Erin Ellis with 6 defensive rebounds.     The Burns Broncs played hard during last weeks tournament at Lusk. The Broncs played a total of 3 games in the Lusk Tournament. During the game against Greybull the Broncs lost 36 to 42. In the 1st period Greybull pulled ahead 12 to 5. By the 2nd period, Greybull had continued to pull ahead with a score 23 to 15. 3rd period started a tough battle for the win.   • Hornets take big win

    The Pine Bluffs Hornets played hard at their tournament this past weekend. During their first against the Wyoming Indians the Hornets won by 16 points. In the 1st period the hornets had a total of 19 points. Then in the 2nd period the Hornets had managed to score another 22 points bringing the score to 41 to 24. 3rd period is when they took a huge lead over the Wyoming Indians.     Wrestling season is finally here and the team is pumped up and ready to go. Pictured above is the 2017/18 Burns Pine Bluffs Wrestling Team. December 8 started the Charles Lake 2 day wrestling tournament in Cheyenne. This meet was attended by numerous teams from across the area.   • Female wrestler grapples for second year

    Diana Sanchez is the lone female wrestler on the Burns Pine Bluffs wrestling team. This is her second year on the team. She wrestles in the 150 lb category. When asked how she did last year Sanchez said, "I think I did ok". She too was looking forward to the season but had some concerns. "I think that the other wrestlers were a bit bigger this year" she stated. Sanchez is the first female wrestler with the Burns/Pine Bluffs team.     The Burns Bronc Basketball Varsity team started the tournament with a bang. Taking the first 2 games but losing the last 2. Coach Patterson said, "We learned a lot about ourselves this weekend, this was another great learning experience for our team". The first game pitted the Bronc's against Moorcroft.     The Pine Bluffs Jr High Hornets brought home another victory after their game against Kimball Jr High Longhorns on November 20th. The A Team dominated the Longhorns 47 to 10. Leading the team was Andrea Reifschneider with a total of 15 points. Adding to their total was Abby Gray with 10 points.     The Eagles had one First Team honoree in left tackle Travis Romsa. The junior from Burns, Wyoming, named the team's MVP in 2017, was instrumental to an Eagle offensive line which finished as the best unit in the league at preventing quarterback sacks. Romsa and the rest of the CSC offensive line poked holes in the opposing teams defense which paved the way for the CSC backfield.
