A great team figures out how to win when it is in trouble. Such was the case for the Pine Bluffs Hornets Friday night. Down 14-0, the defending 1A state champions not only had a hill to climb, but atop that hill was Big Horn, last year's 2A state champion. With a shift in classifications, the two powerhouses are both in the 1A division this year. Heading into Friday night's game the Hornets were ranked third, while Big Horn owned the top ranking. After climbing into overtime, Big Horn struck...

Ashley Rousseau Cole Manlove and Dustin Lee|Sep 14, 2017

The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team traveled our shortest distance of the year to Kimball, Nebraska for our annual meet at the Four Winds Golf Course. Most of the harriers have run this course so this was an "old race" for them. This was a quick meet with only three races--all JH, HS girls, and ending with HS boys. We had a couple runners out sick this week, cold and flu season sweeps through most team sports. We are still knocking down our times each week. We have some runners cutting 35 seconds to...

With 6 races and over 30 runners we have a full day and lots of things to be happy about, but holy heck was it a scorcher today. This was the first time that our kids ran at the Five Rocks Amphitheater outside of Gering--it was a challenging course. Hills, trails, grass, switch backs, and even a beautiful jaunt around the cemetery. JH girls are...

  • Mini (me) triathlon brings families together

    Scott Schulte|Aug 24, 2017

There is nothing quite like spending a day swimming, biking and running with one's cousins. It often is those cousins, after all, who become a youngster's first close friends. This may be one of the big reasons the Perlinski and Graesser families and their children (cousins) look forward to the annual Mini (Me) Triathlon. If nothing else, the two related families get to spend time together. "This is the third year we have done this," said Andre Grasser. "This is something we can do as a family....
