    Coming off the Best in the West meet in Scottsbluff earlier last week, the Pine Bluffs Hornets traveled to the Goshen County meet in Torrington Saturday. Jorge Garcia kept his momentum going long enough to capture a first place finish in the 800m Run.     In a close run for the finish line, literally, the Burns girls edged out the Pine Bluffs team by a mere half-point to take first place over 17 events, and in a field of seven teams on a day that started out good for a track meet.     Betty Schaefer(formerly Betty Brower, 65, Pine Bluffs Class of 1967), competed at the USATF Masters Indoor National Track and Field Championships in Winston Salem, N.C. with her team the SoCal Striders.     The Burns Lady Broncs ended last year placing 8th at the state meet, and fourth in both the 2A regional and SEWAC meets. Head Coach Brooks Hoffman, who has been coaching the girls at Burns for the past eight years, is looking for improvement this year with several state qualifiers returning to the track.
