The Pine Bluffs Hornets basketball program is starting up and the team is looking forward to a great season. They then traveled across the border to the Sidney tournament where they did not fare so well and went 1-3. The Burns Broncs varsity basketball team has started their 2023-24 season by participating in two tournaments. The Broncs were still trying to kick off the dust and get back into the basketball-playing mode as they played. They went one and three in their first tournament and 0-4 in their second. The Burns Lady Broncs varsity basketball team has started off the 2023-24 season with a bang. The team will defend their 2022-23 state 2A championship status started off with the Burns Insurance Winter Classis tournament. Brooke Hansen is an all-around athlete who has been making her mark in the 2A conference. And now has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Gillette College. Last Wednesday Savannah Kirkbride made it official by signing her letter of intent for the Eastern Wyoming College volleyball squad. Kirkbride was one of the standout performers for the Lady Broncs in their championship seasons. In 2022 the Lady Broncs went all the way and won the 2A state championship. Two Pine Bluffs middle school wrestlers qualified for the WAWA (Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association) Middle School State meet last weekend. Jesse Gortney and Jax Thurin both placed fourth in the state in their weight class. Gortney, who wrestles in the 70 lbs. weight class had to wrestle six matches in order to make the cut.
