Nichole Fleming is a nine-year-old barrel racer. She has been racing for two years and really enjoys it. She especially likes riding horses. It is 24 miles west of Cheyenne.This place was established in 1971 with the city of Cheyenne and the Boys Scouts. The Pine Bluffs Roping Club started their 2023 season last Friday at the arena here in Pine Bluffs. The event planned was for team roping. Nineteen ropers from the local area competed in a Jackpot Roping Rodeo. There were 43 teams created all looking for the shortest time to rope the cow. Colter Wilson was one of the youngest ropers at the rodeo. He is a ninth grader from Carpenter and competes in team roping. On June 22nd the annual "Wyoming Coaches Foundation North-South All-Star Games" announced the coaches and athletes that have been selected to participate in the games held in Casper. Bryce Humphrey, who placed ninth in the state in trap-shooting will be traveling to the national tournament. The national tournament will be held in Mason, Michigan at the MTA Homegrounds. If you want to burn off some energy and have fun while doing it, the Frontier Trampoline Park in Cheyenne is the place to go. There are different activities for all ages to partake in. The old west style is happening every month throughout the summer in Cheyenne. The event is "The Hell on Wheels" Rodeo and Chuck Wagon Dinner series featuring six rodeos and the award winning 3 Lazy R Chuck Wagon held at the Archer Event Center. Cheyenne has hosted a rodeo since the 1860's. They were overflowing with cowboys, railroad workers, and lawmen in Cheyenne at the time. It was an incredible sport year for the Pine Bluffs Hornets Sports program. For the year 2022-23 the Hornets earned two team state championships and several individual state championships. People traveled from all over the world to attend the Earl Anderson Memorial Rodeo in Grover, Colorado. This year was a special one in that it was the 100th year of having this rodeo. The Anderson family started preparing the land in the 1920's. In 1923 the rodeo officially started with only a few events. Burns Broncs Boys Basketball team has a new head coach. On June 5th the boys were introduced to Coach Shawn Mollett. Mollett will assume the reins of the boy's team for the 2023-24 season and beyond. Two retired teachers from Burns Elementary and High School competed in the Valley National 8-Ball League Association (VNEA) World Pool Tournament. Craig and Midori Spatz traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to showcase their talents at the pool table against some of the best pool players around. The Laramie County chapter of the 4-H club had their annual 4-H shooting meet last weekend the 9th and 10th of June. Teams and clubs from around the county meet at the Pine Bluffs Sportsman's Club range to test their skills in archery, shotgun, 22 pistol and rifle. Over the two-day event these young adults would shoot and fire close to 100 rounds of shotgun and 22 rounds at a series of targets. Scores would be tallied and awards given out at a later date.
