    The Lady Broncs traveled to Nebraska to compete in the Bayard C&D Invitational track and field meet last week. The team had a rough outing against some of the better teams from around the area. The team only managed a 12th place finish with 7 points. Emma Norris was the only member to break the top three. Norris finished third in the high jump with a leap of 4ft 10in.     Five local area girls wanted to play softball this year. Four from Burns and one from Pine Bluffs. Checking both Burns and Pine Bluffs high school sports program's, there was no softball program available. So the girls decided to look in Cheyenne for an open program.     Pine Bluffs Recreation had their annual National Take a Walk in the Park Day on March 30th. Everyone was invited to the Pine Bluffs City park on Main Street. Sonja Fornstrom and Heather Eggli were at the park giving out tickets for every time a walker completed a lap around the park.     This will be the 50th year that the Shriners Bowl, also known as the Shrine Bowl All-Star Football game will be played. This is the high school equivalent to the pro football All-Star game. The state is divided between north and south and a head coach is selected. The coaches are nominated by their peers, then one is selected for the north and one for the south.     The Spring Sports programs are under way for the Burns High School athletes. The Broncs are very strong this year in the Track and Field competitions. The Broncs track and field team traveled to Sidney, Nebraska to compete in the John Ganser Invite Track and Field competition.     The Pine Bluffs Hornets boys track and field team traveled to Morrill, Nebraska for the Morrill Early Bird track and field meet. This is the first meet of the season for the running Hornets and the first time to stretch their wings against other teams. Although none of the individuals were able to break into the top three the 4x400m relay team was able to finish second in the meet.     The Lady Hornets track and field team followed the boys to Morrill, NE., to compete in the Early Bird Invite. The girl's team has several stars including the Indoor Track High Jump state champion Alyssa Slade. She hit her record making mark of 5ft 2in to take first place in the event.     The Burns Girls Track and Field team traveled the their counterparts at the Sidney Invite meet. The girls competed in the John Ganser Invite to hone their skills in the field and track events. Many of the girls were able to place in the top three positions with several others placing in the top 10.     The Burns Broncs Track and Field team started practicing on March 13th for the 2023 season. They are looking forward to improving on their efforts and times. In the 2022 season the girls were ranked fifth and the boys team was ranked sixth. Last year was a good year for them and some individual efforts shined all the way to the State meet.     Jourdaine Cerenil of Pine Bluffs did not qualify for recent the NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Meet, but she was placed on the All- Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's First-Team in mid-March.     The Pine Bluffs Hornets have finished the state tournament in first place. The Hornets are the Wyoming 2A State Champions. This is the first time in the Burns Broncs history that the Lady Broncs basketball team has won the state title. The Lady Broncs went 3-0 at the state championships to take the title.
