Even a 5k run will take practice and coaching on how to pace yourself, how to breath and how to run the last part of the race and how to believe in yourself to finish the race. The "Girls on the Run" program teaches these lessons to young girls from 3rd to 8th grades. But the Girls on the Run program's not just a sports training program. Girls on the Run is a skills and life learning program. The...

The Lady Broncs have the state championship in their sights. Standing in their way were the Tongue River Lady Eagles. The Eagles are seated number 4 in the Northeast Conference with a 9-17 record and were standing in the way of the Lady Broncs. When you get a bronc moving forward it is hazardous to get in its way. The Eagles found this out the hard way even though they put up a good fight. It took the Lady Broncs five games to win the match against the Lady Eagles. This was something that the...

In what was inarguably the toughest game for the Hornets this year they squared off against the Rocky Mountain Grizzles in a game that would decide who would go to the championship game. It was a battle for the Hornets as the Grizzlies defense was tough and their offense found the cracks in the Hornets defense and was able to run the ball. The Hornets defense came up big several times in the game and turned the Grizzlies offense back. The Hornets were determined and did not break. They were...
The Pine Bluffs Hornets varsity football team is on the road to the state championship. They beat the Big Piney Punchers last Friday in the first round of the play-offs. The score is a bit mis-leading as the Punchers gave the Hornets about as much as they could handle. The Hornets took it all in stride and held their own. The defense did not let the Punchers offense into the end zone. The Hornets defense would bend but would not break. The Hornets offense had some trouble moving the ball...
The Burns Broncs varsity football team seated third in the 2A East Conference made the play-offs this year. They are headed to Lyman to take on the Eagles who are seated second in the conference in a first round play-off game. It did take a while for the Broncs to warm up but when they did they did very well. The first quarter started with the Eagles kicking off to the...
The Lady Hornets faced the number four seated Tongue River Lady Eagles in the Northeast conference. The Eagles have a 6-16 record in the conference but wanted to move up on the scale. It looks like the Lady Hornets were a bit tired from their first match against Wright but they fought back. The first set had the Lady Hornets doing all the right things but the ball just did not want to cooperate with the Hornets. Kill shots were going long and some of the sets were a bit too close to the net and...

The Lady Eagles came to the play-offs t...
The Lady Broncs came into the game with high hopes and the championship game within sight. But the Lady Broncs know that they need to take care of business today and not worry about tomorrow. Coming off the win against the Lady Eagles the Lady Broncs were pumped and ready to hit the court. The first game was what you would expect of a semi-final game between two strong teams. It was an up and down battle with each team hitting their shots and able to block the opponents attempts. Emma Norris...

The Broncs have won their last two matches and were ready to take on the 27-8 Rams. It looked to be a very competitive game. Game one was everything that a sp...

The Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country track team left on Friday morning–not early which was lovely. The team always starts state day with an EARLY team run. This has been a tradition since long before Coach Rousseau took over. Coach said, “This tradition is one of my favorites, despite me being the opposite of a morning person.” The initial outside meet-up is always grumpy, but within a few moments they are giggling together outside. They found a park in the dark–a couple of loops around, some plyos, and a couple of games of infection and the...
